Gardening Scotland 2018

OH and I did our volunteering stint at GS yesterday at the Pallet and Planter Exhibits. It was a gloriously hot day and we had lots of visitors. I used my phone to take the photos and many were not worth showing but I thought you might enjoy seeing some of them. Here are the best of them.
We thought this was a fun way of getting the message across that we need to look after our bees. The message alongside the exhibit was obviously written by a member who inspired the Fife Group who submitted it.

Such a lot of variety and lots of fun. My favourite is the Plantosaurus!

Thank you both. Steragram it is our version of Chelsea but much better lol. The Planters and pallets are only a very small part of the show. There was 43 entries this year from preschools to established gardening clubs. The beauty of the competition is that the exhibitors are able to choose their own subject. The organisers provide 1m square collars into which the display needs to fit. They can also bring their own backdrop but it cannot exceed six foot in height. I'm sure the children (and the adults) enjoy learning much more because they need to know their subject in order to give a good interpretation of it. The Scottish Rock Garden Club had a display in the main floral hall. They won a Premier Gold this year. Apart from the plant displays and traders there are stands selling everything you would ever need in a garden and a lot of what you would never know of if you were not at the show. There was a Pipe Band, a jazz band and choirs to entertain while sampling the culinary delights of the food providers. http://www.gardeningscotland.com/ has more information than I can give.
Pam 24 I too loved the Plantosaurus but it was extremely hard to choose a favourite because there was not a single one which would disappoint.

Nice to see young ones being encouraged to grow instead of sitting in front of screens

Thank you Bjs I agree the kids do a fantastic job once they are given a lead. I would think there is plenty of opportunity to both search on the 'net and books when they are fact finding. There is a huge amount of research done to help them incorporate what they want to get across.
