The female of the species!

Some of you may remember an earlier blog involving the hatching of the baby spiders – is this what happens before the babies……
I’m not sure of the mating rituals of spiders nor am I clued up on how to identify and sex spiders.
This spider was sitting patiently watching what was going on around 6 inches away
These two appeared to be fighting – it was getting rather heated for a while.
I am wondering if she was waiting on the winner of this dual which would determine her mate?
Unfortunately the rain came chucking down and they all scuttled off underground!

I was scared of them for years,,before I realised what good little (or big) assets they can be...I'm fine with them now..how can you not like something that can create such a beautiful web ? .I used to sit on the stairs till my parents assured me they had been disposed of....

I'm the only one in the house who isn't petrified of them Bloomer. I'm the only one who will deal with them.... That is pick them up and pretend to put them outside. I generally just tuck them under a piece of furniture when they are not looking!
They are beautiful things. Although on my many trips to Asia I would not have dared getting too close to spiders, those b*****s kill!!!!
