The garden today 29th December 2015

It was a wonderful sunny day yesterday and I managed to get some weeding done.Today we were back to grey skies, strong winds and later on the heavy rain.
Before the rain started I took the camera round the garden. Some things haven’t stopped flowering yet and others are showing an early appearance.
Schistostylus coccinea still throwing out flowers.
Clematis ‘Baleriac’ doing its thing on time
Saxifraga ‘Cotton Crochet’ started flowering last week.
Campanula Birch Hybrid has been flowering from May and there hasn’t been a day without flowers.
A white Poulson rose Silver Anniversary flowering steadily from July.
Rose Queen Elizabeth planted in the spring and settling nicely.
I have 4 clumps of this lovely Iris Katherine Hodgkin and this one is just opening whilst the other 3 are only an inch above the ground.
A cyclamen that is either early or late. If its C. coum then it is early. I love the foliage colour.
The Primula is from the woodland series and is now in its 4th year.
So the garden is changing her clothes again and I have lots of bulbs to put in and a few other plants waiting permanent homes.
I am going to try to keep a weekly photographic record but I always say that and I rarely manage to. So lets see what 2016 brings.

We do have winter here in Scotland but I worry it isn't cold enough to kill off bugs and diseases. My tulips are appearing so I recon they will be hit hard in the new year. It is very confusing for us all. :0/

Everything is mixed up.......very mild still here although wet and windy too!
A very large, mature Magnolia Stellata along the road from us, has some flowers open today....incredible!!!!

Your plants seem to be enduring the rough weather well :o)

Hard to believe it is winter when looking at your garden SBG.

its been dry to day and less windy but a decidedly cooler day. Nearer a 'good' December day.

What a strange "winter" we're having this year! I hardly find it surprising the plants you have flowering out of season this year! It has been so mild - we have only had one day, that I recall, with a frost this winter! Though we are forecast a frosty start to the New Year tomorrow!
Happy New Gardening Year 2016 to everyone on GoY! :-))

Very confusing all over it seems, so I stand no chance , lol,
was so warm earlier and we had sunshine, everywhere was drying out quite nicely, I had plans to pop into my garden as soon as I'd finished my baking but alas the rains came back and scuppered them.
Happy New Year Seaburn to all of you and Best Wishes for 2016...

Even without the sun, your flowers would brighten up a dull day, but...should they be doing this, are they going to exhaust themselves before spring?

Some will not repeat flowering like the iris until next year but I don't mind. The Schistostylus regular flowers off and on all year so that wont matter. The saxifrage was only plant in the summer so I didn't expect it to flower. It probably wouldn't have if the weather had been 'normal'
We had a hard frost yesterday but its drizzly and murky today. feels colder somehow :o)

Sun what's that then? Some lovely flowers out there, love the roses and the iris.
Glad I'm not the only one with irises flowering away. I've got 3 clumps, 2 starting to flower but only about half their usual height. Hope I still get some blooms at the usual time. Poor things are so confused aren't they.
