Things we do for love!

Since our daughters were little they have always had a rabbit/guinea pig as pets. Sadly the last rabbit died about 2 years ago and since then Other half has worked hard on getting the back grass [euphemistically the lawn] into a weed free zone. No bare patches nor moss.
My eldest has had to relocate back up with us. As a consequence we have accepted her ‘little one’, Cherry.
A beautiful girl but we had to put her bed in my potting shed. She enjoys playing with the plant pots though.
No don’t call social services!
Cherry is a rabbit: a Belgian Hare to be precise.
She goes on the grass from the mid afternoon until dusk then she goes back in for the night. But I have never known rabbit wee scorch the grass like hers does.
The lawn will recover in time but poor OH just looks at it and shakes his head sadly :o)

Tough luck on OH but Cherry is very beautiful...

She is lovely and is technically a house rabbit using a litter tray in the shed.

Marking the grass is a female thing with dogs wonder if the same applies with Rabbits.
maybe OH could trade her in for a male the same colour

not that I am aware Brian, as the last 3 rabbits we had were female and like Chery all neutered. but she is so lovely.

Why not train it to go on a litter trays both inside and outside the shed. Some newspaper in the tray with its urine on it should do it.

Belgian Hares are beautiful so you can forgive her for the odd (or not!) bald spot on the grass.
My Son and his OH split up and the rabbit, a Netherland dwarf had to stay here as her new address has a no pets policy. My Son of course never liked the rabbit, so it's now my responsibility!

What a lovely rabbit. I'm glad she enjoys your lawn :)

We put the litter tray in the run but she ignores it, loosestrife. She prefers her tray in the left corner and moves it into position in the shed but doesn't respond to it in the same place in the run. Female Haha!
She is getting affectionate with me now as she gets to know me.

Hopefully, she wont start digging it up!!!
Our rabbit, many years ago, dug a really long tunnel from the lawn , under our shrub bed and we struggled to get him out to put him away in his hutch!

so far she hasn't started digging. But in the shed she plays with the plant pots and hides under the shelving. She didn't dig in her previous home either. In fact none of the bunnies we've had has dug holes.

Yes, our Billy was a bit of a challenge! But that was over twenty years ago...a distant memory!

Oh dear, he has my sympathy...I gave up on our lawn after my 6 guinea pigs completely ruined it...yes you did read that right, they were mine, so I couldn't blame anyone else for the badly scorched, nibbled to death grass.
