Hello long time no see!

Hi everybody I thought I’d pop in to see how things were going, have been quite poorly but on the mend.
We are contemplating moving house….eeeeekkkk! There is a bungalow for sale opposite my very elderly parents it would be so good to be able to just pop across the road and we’d be able to keep an eye on them too. The only problem with the bungalow is the garden is mostly round the front and side, the back is concrete and at the moment very bare, will I be able to leave my lovely garden for that is my only worry.
My mind has been leaping all over the place as to what I could do to it to soften it and to keep me happy. I must admit where I am now the garden is becoming too much for me and I have had to employ a man to do the hard work! So in one sense it’s a good idea…..but oh how I will miss my garden!
It’s all in the air at the moment having our house valued tomorrow to see if the move is feasible.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received! Lots of pots comes to mind!

I'm sure you'll soon fill the area with pots, and it does sound a good move to make, and you've admitted your lovely garden is too much for you now, so maybe it's time to make the move. Good luck!

So nice to hear from you again,S.killa, and sorry you have been poorly..I wondered if you had..glad to hear you are feeling much better now..I wouldn't hesitate..it is so easy living in a Bungalow..I'm sure you wouldn't regret it..and as for your concrete back garden...it might be a blessing in disguise if you can't tend your garden as easily now..lots of pots or troughs..or maybe some raised beds if some of the concrete could be removed, for drainage? nice and easy at waist level :o)
Good luck, whatever you decide to do..

Not an easy decision to take SK but firstly its what you think you can cope with. Depending on the size of the back garden I think Bloomers idea of a raised bed sounds good together with pots.
I do hope your health improves as you have not really been feeling to good for quite a time.
Best of luck with whatever your choice is.

Hmm - a big decision to make Skilla - as you know I live within a short walk from my elderly Mum which is really handy. I have a friend with a paved garden who had some square planters made from decking & lined with strong polythene - looks wonderful in the Summer with plants trailing over the sides and just as good the rest of the year with evergreens.

S'killa sorry to see you have been unwell, I had missed you through the winter and did wonder if that was the case, there are some wonderful gardens around that consist of only pots and decking and some of them look wonderful, I can't offer any advice other than what has already been said but wish you well with whatever you decide.....

Decided against move, having looked at bungalow it needed too much work doing, no power points in two bedrooms at all and only one in living room, solid floors so a messy job and I just can't be doing with that! So we are staying here where we've been for 23 years, I was surprised at how relieved I felt obviously not meant to be. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I can understand the relief S'killa and don't blame you....

Hi Skilla
Nice to hear from you...
I hope you'll feel even better as the weather warms up !
Seems a good idea to move to the bungalow.
I guess you can take from your garden some of your very favourite plants, and put containers with plants on any concreted areas.
