Parham Park ... part 2
65 comments
The four acre Walled Garden at Parham is just full of surprises … even in late August … flowers, vegetables, hedges, herbs to name but a few delights.
After part 1 we went back to the picnic area … very few people there … so it was perfect in the peace and quiet with the views across the South Downs …
St. Peters church … very small and quaint …
Then it was time to return to the Walled Garden …
The planting of flowers and vegetables together, in beds edged with Box was wonderful … here are Gourds with Dahlias …
Chard with Rudbeckia …
Sweetcorn with Squash …
A pic to show how the plants are confined within the Box edging … no gaps so I guess the gardeners have to climb in to the beds! …
There is a lovely Rose pergola above the pump house …
The scent from the Roses was intoxicating …
The mixed borders were exactly that … planted so well with barely a gap between the plants …
These flowers are grown purely to be cut for the house …
Lovely Gladioli ‘Green Star’ and ‘Esta Bonita’ …
By this time we had been doing the ‘walk around slowly’ garden walk for almost three hours … with our picnic break in between .. just the herb garden to see …
There was so much to admire in Parham Park Gardens … we passed on viewing the house this time … shall save that for another visit in the Spring.

29 Aug, 2011
o yer, got it now, silly me, that Sheilar can be in right trouble now, wonder if Shirley is still weeding, just wait until she reads what Sheilar has written,
29 Aug, 2011
I know someone who has the muckrake out! Fancy snitching on yer mates Yorkie! I might not take that detour when we go to BA's, then where would you be??
29 Aug, 2011
Bloomer snitched on me, anyway I want to go to BA's with you all, I promise not to be good,
29 Aug, 2011
Thank goodness for that! What a boring day we would have otherwise, with BA moaning about the expense of full english and Sticki making sure we ate all her cake til we are sick, and me moaning about the long drive back to Yorkshire under the influence!!
29 Aug, 2011
that Ba was trying to eat our baking and not even offering us a few bottles of wine and full english, can you believe it, we are staying in BA's tent overnight so don't worry about driving,
29 Aug, 2011
thanx for second half shirley, lovely gardens ;o)
29 Aug, 2011
Shirley has weeded her plot, mown & edged her grass, dug deeply to remove the field of bird seed growing beneath her bird feeder, had her ever forgetful Mum round for the past 4 hours, eaten, watched the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and finally got back to the above comments! ... You're "red carded" and sent off ... the lot of you ... just remember Michael was a referee and takes no disrespect from players or GoYers! ... LOL! :o)))))
29 Aug, 2011
Sorry I grassed you up,Yorkshire..but Shirley needed to know..she is my friend, and sends me 'Whiska's ' boxes, and plants and seeds ! I have to keep on the right side of her..can't you see that ? OMG..I can hear rumblings of running feet, thundering over Castle Hill..are yyou coming to get me,Yorkshire..and is that ...gulp...Ralph,your trusty side kick with you ???..Quick,Russell,we are going out..NOW !! On second thoughts..I shall stand my ground..Duels at Dawn in Beaumont Park..halfway between us ! :o)))
29 Aug, 2011
Not even a yellow card! And all we did was wreck your blog Shirley...These refs..they think they run the place LOL!
29 Aug, 2011
Youve heard the expression "the pen is mightier than the sword" Bloomer? If Yorkie fights with her tongue, you're a gonner, its as sharp as a scalpel!!
