A Valentine massacre

my second attempt at writing this blog..there is another one somewhere in the etha..

a cancelled meeting and with the gym closed for the day for repairs and after opening the bag of mail (as if) yesterday i took the opportunity to get out in the garden and tackle some tidying

the occaisional shower and gust of wind wasnt enough to stop the sun peeking round a couple of clouds and the morning was inviting me to get personal with the front border

it always amazes me how much life and vitality there is under the fallen leaves and debris..so i carefully got intimate with the soil and pushed and pulled and dragged everything away from the budding newcomers..

i really enjoyed the morning and leaving the border half-naked i celebrated with a glass of Gigondas with my lunch

Although it looks bare, it will soon come to life, when more comes up and more are seeded or planted.

It is a lot further on than my garden Skip. There are a few buds and some plants are beginning to appear, but we were threatened with snow yesterday!! The snowdrops are the only sign of life. Luckily we have a lot of evergreens.

Well done! I need to get out in the garden to do some weeding myself. The only good day we have had here in Devon was Saturday. I have some crocus and Iris out in some tubs, and the other spring bulbs are poking through the soil now.

Its surprising what difference just a bit of tidying can do, I did get out for a couple of days at the beginning of last week but its raining yet again now so thats put a stop to it for now.......

I have been keeping things pretty tidy since the Autumn, but some jobs just have to wait until March. I am desperate to chop back some of our shrubs. What my husband and I still have to do is clear an area in the garden for my new green house......ugh!
