For Lulu and Lilcrawford - Mosaic
27 comments
hi
looking at Lulu’s stag and Lilcrawford’s birch tree mosaic I wondered if would be possible to do something in this space:
I have been looking around for ages for antique tiles with a bit of a scene on but never seem to find anything but I would really like something quite unique..
the colour of the wall is a farrow and ball green and the cooker is cream. The oak cupboards are painted a lighter green..id have to dig out the paper work to see the exact colour codes
the colours in the kitchen are all creams and light greens..
sorry if this is a boring blog to others but it was just a ding!! moment when i saw the stag mosaic..
thank you Annella for noticing the washing up..here thats better..
these give a bit more flavour to how the kitchen looks..perhaps if those that are interested could suggest the theme of the mosaic..?

I'm honoured to be included and would be delighted to do one for you Guy, possibly with a Canadian touch!! I shall be awaiting the airfare :)))))

Must have commented on this before you finished the blog..wow what a lovely kitchen that is!!!!!!
Like the painting above your wine rack thingy. And its certainly NOT a boring blog.
Only thing I thought of..was when you are cooking, wouldnt things splash onto it? Be a lot of cleaning! lol
Maybe you could do a paper mosaic and finish it off with a varnish? Sorry I;m jsut being practical..and I hate cleaning tiles lol :)

How much space is there between the wall and the aga lids? You could have a large abstract to compliment your painting on the wall. It would look better if the whole area was filled and glued strongly to the inset?
You could also have 3 smaller ones, one long thin one...I could go on!!

i agree i want the whole area filled..
i like the idea of matching the abstract piece..
id say 4 to 6 inches..

or a paitning of a stag! lol

Lovely kitchen and I think either a mural or a mosaic would look lovely in that recess:)

That's enough space to put a mosaic picture behind then!
Need a closer pic of the abstract.
Darn it will have to learn how to cut circles now!! (don't tell Lil, or she might make you one first!!!)

Maybe (in mosaic) a huge tree to fill the space with hay bales etc, that would match your painting Skip. Or choose brightly coloured gloss tiles and incorporate five/six colours in it, could be random or patterned. Great blog.

Definitely not boring at all, I`m not clever enough to do anything creative like that, also not got the patience if I`m honest but love and admire what others are doing, so will be looking forward to seeing the outcome of your ding (as you described it)...

wow what a lovely kitchen! and so tidy!!
i have glass behind my hob so i know its ok to have it there if thats any help. [mine is plain tho ~ not a mosaic]

how about picking up some of the ideas and shapes you already have in your kitchen ~ that kettle is a lovely shape or echoing something from the pictures you have on the wall??
21 Sep, 2011
Now there's your next mosaic projest Sticki, one for your hob!!
21 Sep, 2011
wouldnt dare ~ for two reasons ~ one ~ not good enough and two ~ the glass cost too much to cover up!!

No worries Lulu, I'm much too far away. Cost of shipping would probably come close to the cost of the entire kitchen! Thanks for the confidence though.
I'm going to post a couple of pics for you of my stained glass pieces I did many years ago. Regarding the circle, cut like a pie and then place together :)

Cost of the kitchen, now that's funny!
21 Sep, 2011
be cheaper for you to come over lil and make the mosaics on site ~ you and lulu ~ duet of mosaics???

21 Sep, 2011

21 Sep, 2011
Who, Skippy or us?
21 Sep, 2011
not sure now you ask.
just wondering what you are doing giggling under a hedge!!! when there are very nice chairs in the kitchen!!!

I've already put that offer out, for Guy to supply my airfare but he has been strangely quiet!!
We would of course be hiding from Guy Sticki trying to find our 'muse' :)))))

Lovely kitchen!

This probably says something about me but I just thought -I love that kitchen- and, er, didn't even notice the washing-up. Have been waiting to have kitchen done for 16 years and still waiting. Just been through pics again twice - still can't find the washing-up!
