The winter of my discontent.

We have now reached the period of danger. DEC- January and I can say usually mid December to mid January is deadliest of all. THAT one month period has every great freeze on record occurring then.
So all those other weeks- 48 can see 4 weeks undo it all. I can study the forecasts- but sometimes we have a frost when there is none forecast. Lost a large Croton because of that. I had covered it 2 or 3 nights..then it got zapped on a night that was supposed to be well above frost levels.
One thing about this winter unlike last…rains have been normal not that torrential one after another like last year. Lots of sun.
I’m home free by the third week of January. Hurry!

well you have to 'get your mind right'. once you have it rationalised it will be easy :o)

sneaky frosts wreak havoc don't they.
we had snow on Thursday down the eats coast and with a bitter wind. chilly to say the least.

I heard that Europe had an early snowfall. Caught everybody by suprise.
So far Seagirl, its been sunny and maybe a little too sunny. No rain in the horizon. The grounds here are wet from Novembers good rains- but I have to start watering the potted plants again.
Clear weather in December can get very cold at night. The only frost free Decembers have rains.
So,I'm just enjoying what I cant control, etc,as the refrigerator magnets say!

No snow here in the South but the days have been bright and very chilly. The two greenhouses have had to have their gas heaters lit every night otherwise all the plants there would have suffered.

I had the task of switching off in the mornings and checking the thermometers. Latter should only be in Fahrenheits!

Eirlys, those greenhouses are worth their weight in gold on a cold day and you got the heaters going, gardening in them like its June.

It snowed in Kent on Thursday, but didn't settle.

Cold enough here to put on the home heaters. Mornings are chilly..afternoons sunny..but not warm unless you sit in the sun and sunbath-lol. Be a plant I guess.
