The sun shone for a nice change so I went hopefully hunting for a bit of colour. Nothing but green tips on the early bulbs and the prims were too battered to record- this is all I could find!

This dogwood replaces the Lavatera Barnsley that’s in my photos which suddenly died.

Swiss chard – useful veg and pretty enough for the border!

An invaluable standby – wouldn’t be without one or two of these!

.

Bless it, I bet its wishing it hadn’t bothered!

Another brave soul a bit worse for wear.

This is a double – really looking forward to it opening. The others are only just breaking through the soil.

And that’s all folks..

Its a really warm sunny day here as well Stera, such a treat after all that rain, I can just about match you for colour in my garden, Bowls Mauve flowering its heart out, a couple of Helichrysum still bravely hanging on, one Helibore is gorgeous but no signs of any buds on the others as of yet, Penstemons budding up again and one brave Fuschia in the front has one flower showing, Allysum and Canterbury Bells mixed in with the odd Pansy, too nice to be indoors really but clearing away Christmas decorations so one is resisting temptation other than having a wander around earlier, lol....
Lovely pics ........

What a beautiful entrance and the Cornus really adds Steragram. Those red stems really stand out when the sun is hitting them don't they.
Euonymus really earn their keep at this time of the year - in the top picture of Euonymus - what is the plant with the dark green leaf with white markings growing through it please?
A lovely blog - thanks for sharing with us :)

A gift of a day today , we walked Minsmere to the Ocean , ( I love calling it that , it gives it a bit more kudos than just the sea) .
Just prefect , lots of people out enjoying the brilliant , warm sunshine . The sky was cloudless .
Good colour still about in your garden , Stera , Lovely pics .

That's a terrific dogwood, and the Hellebore is going to be a picture, Stera - lovely!

Scottish, the variegated plant invading the euonymus is only a bog standard pink lamium maculatum. That little bed hardly gets any sun at all so variegated things make a big difference.I do have one that still has a flower on it - forgot that one! Actually though I've been wondering whether to move it and replace it with a red leaved little euphorbia that's seeded itself around or perhaps a purple heuchera. What do you think? Re the posh entrance, don't forget we always take the flattering shots! The gateposts are actually quite grotty.

Lincslass, my Bowles mauve is still functioning a bit but not enough to have its photo taken. Do you mean your penstemons actually have flower buds already? I'm glad you have a hellebore out already - they are fantastic aren't they? I'm looking forward to one Hywel sent me but its only just peeping above ground at present.

Lovely to live near Minsmere Driad - glad you enjoyed your walk.

I love the cornus too - it took a while to decide where to put it but just there it gets the morning and the evening sun, when the light is nice and low.

The penstemons have been flowering for months Stera, I kept going round deadheading when I couldn't do much else and thats my reward, lol....

Stera - re the purple heuchera....I've got some Heuchera Caramel cuttings on the go, come spring and they have taken, might that interest you? I know it's not purple but it certainly makes an impact.

That's very kind of you. I don't think it would do what I'm after just there but It would be good somewhere else if you can spare one. Thank you
