a little trip out

we went for an afternoon out ~ just popped down to tewkesbury, short trip down the M5. It was cool, the shops were interesting, the abbey was lovely, river beautiful but i think you will agree it was the sky that stole the show at the end of the day ~ i was sooo glad to have my camera with me!
first we visited the Abbey

then the river

…where the ducks all lined up:

and then going to the car park this is what happened to the sky:

so we quickly drove to a spot near the river where we watched the sun going down ~ with the ducks:

and then there was one:

I didnt want to leave

it was just amazing!

What a glorious sunset....I wouldn't want to leave that site either! You've really captured those 3 ducks (all different species in the one photo) too.

I've never visited Tewkesbury...my list is just growing and growing after seeing so many of the GoYers photos...so many places of beauty to visit.

What a perfect end to the day to view your lovely photos, Sticki. :)

So beautiful,Sticki...and we had hoped to visit Tewkesbury
while we were down there..that sunset is amazing...and would make a lovely framed picture. It was a lovely day here too,but we didn't get a sunset like that,as it had clouded over by then..we got out in the garden though,so that was a bonus after the last couple of days...:o))

thank you to all of you, the day was made perfect by the sunset ~ undoubtedly ~ it was also nice knowing i could put the pictures on here to share them with you.
if i can get a nice picture that makes a good day for me. not sure if it will be ok to frame but i may have a go ~ thanks bloomer.
oh i forgot to tell you about the very nice afternoon tea and the extremely fascinating bookshop ~ old books ~ thousands of them!

i couldnt believe it either ~ i saw a few pink stripes and then gold and then it changed to something out of a painting but i was incredibly lucky to have found a spot to photograph it!

Just loved this blog what glorious photo's the sunset with the ducks, I liked the river one as well.

Oh, if there are thousands of second-hand books I'll use that as my levering tool to get hubby to go there one day :) Bookshops and charity shops draw him like a magnet! lol

thanks mavis, not sure i got camera on right setting for river one, it was a little dull by then.
plenty of charity shops too whistonlass, and if you went on down south-west [?] a little more to Hay-on-Wye you would find a town full of books ~ its known as the second hand book town and has a festival

Oh yes, we've heard about Hay-on-Wye....I always thought our son and his dad would venture down there as they are both mad-keen on books. Alas, hubby was always too occupied in our newsagent's business to take the time and now our son has moved away to Canada.

Still....it could be on our "retirement-things-to-do" agenda. It's on the list! Thanks, Sticki.
