Highlights of September

It’s throwing it down of rain today so a perfect time to look back at some September highs.

He was a few days late this year but our Robin arrived on the 13th – I’d heard him while lying in bed early in the morning and was so pleased. I’d bought the Fairy Cup just a week or so before, hoping he’d like it.

He stays til about April – I know it might not be the exact same one, but he’s the only one we get, and he hangs out in the same hedge, and feeds in the same area, have never seen him in summer.

This Salvia has been a bee’s delight, I had to move it from under the window because of the wind, so I got to take a full photo of the size of it, from in a pot. I’ve put it back in place now so we watch the bees gobble it up while we have tea.

There are two butterflies on the pink Sedum, one a Red Admiral which we’ve seen many times before, but the other is a Speckled Wood which we’d never seen so that is good news.

We need a little rain here in NY.

Very heavy rain here yesterday too, but hopefully the garden is soaking it up and storing it away. I had to dig up two small Rhododendrons as they were so dry and slowly dying. Hopefully I have done it in time to save them. Your Robin is probably still about somewhere, can't believe that he would leave somewhere where food is on tap! He or she is possibly too busy raising a family for you to notice them during the summer.
Careful what you wish for Bathgate!

Your garden is wildlife-friendly, that's good :) It's nice to see a variety of insects and birds … we have lots of robbins here, they chirp away in the hedgerows. I seldom see them in the garden though so I think you are lucky.
