Well the Oak trees have started to come into leaf. I have a love hate thing going on with these beautiful old trees. I love that they have been here for many more years than I have, I believe they may be as old as 100 to 140 years old. I love the shade they give to my front garden. What I don’t like are the blessed leaves that fall twice a year. I spend from October through to the following summer picking up the leaves which get everywhere.
I was really concerned about the oaks last year as they had a funny kind of fungus on the leaves and looked quite poorly. I would hate to lose these majestic trees, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the hard frost this winter has killed the virus that had taken hold.

I agree about trees - I love them. but clearing up the leaves is a real back-breaking chore! Not my favourite garden task! I am sending your oaks a get-well message!

The leaves have uncurled a little bit more, as soon as I can reach one I'm going to have a good look. Thanks for all your comments on this. The Oaks are so much part of our house.

I do hope they come back thriving and trouble free.

I'm pleased to tell you that the Oaks are covered in beautiful, lush, emerald green leaves. I spent the day removing any detritus under the shrubs near the Oaks, just in case there might be some nasties lurking there.

Fingers crossed. I feel the same about the leaves but at least it's free good stuff.
I now have a blanket of cherry petals on my front garden. it looks pretty but a pain all the same.
