VISIT TO PRIORY GARDENS & MAZE, NORFOLK

Another garden we visited without getting wet!
Before we arrived at Priory Gardens, we visited a lovely little tea rooms with a pretty garden. It was 11 am but we couldnt resist a cream tea. Apparently people would stop there at breakfast time and have a cream tea!
Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It was really pretty.
Then we continued to Priory Gardens
Here is my OH at the entrance with a pet lion..he seems to have a thing about being photographed with lions…
We tackled the Maze first..I wont tell you how many dead ends I found..just to say we never found the middle, we thought we might collapse before we got out lol!
I loved the bark on this eucalyptus tree, and the lady didnt have to ask us twice to linger!
There were at least 6 different sorts of holly, and bushes were laden down with berries
Now I will let you enjoy the walk…
The pampas grass was flirting on the breeze and if you half closed your eyes you could imagine a group of white horses prancing around, their tails flying…
This dark grass was awesome..a bit like dark smoke arising from the earth….eerie!
I would guess this garden would look totally different in spring and summer, but Im glad we saw it in autumn as the light softened all the outlines and gave the day a very dreamlike quality.

We had a great time there. We were based in Docking nr Brancaster and altho we went to Aylsham to Blickling, we didnt go towards the coast there. I will earmark that one should we get there again altho the 250 mile journey wasnt easy! Thanks Plantoholic.

Another smashing blog Tetra with beautiful photo`s, its good to see gardens in the autumn as well, I agree they are probably gorgeous in spring and summer but autumn can be just as lovely with the foliage changing and the berries glowing brightly. I enjoyed the walk, thankyou...

I'd second a visit to East Ruston. Allow a whole day there if you can - there is a LOT to see

I love the golden light in autumn (when we get sunny days), everything seems to have a soft glow..guess it cos autumn flowers are often golden and red..
I have marked that should we visit again Andrew and will certainly allow a full day..should we take sandwiches or do they sell sustenance?

I have just heard a talk on the radio about Sir Roy Strong's garden in Herefordshire, it sounds lovely and well worth a visit; but from looking at the web site it appears you can only go in groups.

Beautiful blog, and again, such terrific photos, Tet...My OH comes from Suffolk, close to the Norfolk border, so a lot of these took him back to when he use to visit all these places... I so enjoyed seeing this through your camera lens, and great to see your OH again too..\0/x
