Sparrowhawk swoops in

Hi folks,
A sparrowhawk visits our garden on a fairly regular basis; hunts; everything goes quiet for a couple of days then things are back to normal…
‘til the next time…
The other day, he’d caught and killed a starling, been disturbed and returned to finish his meal. My other half was in the garden at the time but this didn’t worry the sparrow hawk. He just sat on the fence and posed for the camera!

There is obviously a good supply of food in your garden, he feels safe and at home.

Unbelievable pictures, I have seen them on the rarest of occasions but to see them that close is brilliant.

They are fascinating birds and so beautiful. We have one about half a dozen times in a year.

They are stunning birds, we have a female who regularly comes, usually takes a pigeon or collared dove, so leaves the little birds alone thank goodness.

Superb photos, white horse, and always a magic moment when these handsome birds visit. Prompted by your interesting blog and stunning pics., I am taking the opportunity to blog a poem I wrote a few years ago when I was only able to sit and look out of the window. It's quite long but I hope you'll read it and enjoy it.
