Fascinating.....but they. Just take so long to flower from seed ,I gave up with them years ago. But worth the patience!

Paul, I will be starting even earlier next year. Late winter is advised.
Siris, according to Sarah Raven, the buds start off green-white gradually going darker with age, so it must be normal for the colour change. She also advises sowing under glass January to March for earlier flowering.
I think the frizzled leaves could be temperature related though. We've had terrible windy days this week blowing pots over and drying them out more than the sun.

Beautiful......we are, well OH is growing them next year, we grew them many years ago, but they took forever to flower, so will start them off early this time!
