Still making mistakes - but I am learning

Some of the plants I’ve put into my tiered “mountain” are just in the wrong place, some too small others too big, some grow to a ridiculous height for some reason others spread too much. Yes I know there are still gaps but before long they will be filled, still many plants waiting to to go in – and I have to walk somewhere! Luckily hardly ever any weeds oh! there is a big one which I really thought was going to be a plant but only just realized it’s a weed, it has pretty little blue flowers so I’ll leave it for a bit, why not! Anyway judge for yourself and I am always happy to get some suggestion or advise – could do with some.
P.S. just had to include Titchy in her cage on the last photo

Well done, I think this looks very good and has changed quite a lot since you first showed us. perhaps you are a little impatient for the slow growers to mature? Take a look at some of the Phlox subulatas such as 'Emerald blue' and 'Candy stripe' they would cascade over the wood very well.

Hi Titchy, it's certainly taking shape isn't it. I would plant some gorgeous heucheras, there are lovely ones for sun or shade and all year round colour and what about erigeron karvenskianus (I think I spelt it right lol), apparently it flowers for ever and dangles too, ask Spritzhenry. Of course some long flowering, hardy as anything geraniums like the lovely blue rozanne as ground cover. i've run out of ideas now:-))

What a nice garden. I also think some weeds are pretty and often leave them alone.
Poor bird locked in that cage - he can see the whole sky but is unable to fly around. He must feel trapped. :(

Ladybug, Titchy doesn't sing anymore, she used to when she was in the mating season, but didn't get lucky, but it's the males who sing, Titchy was bought as a male but turned out to be a she, and now she is getting old like me, so she just chirps a bit like me.

Drc, thank you, yes certainly Phlox Subulatas would look great, got 2 so far on my shopping list, the emerald blue and the tamagodale, oh there are so many plants I can go for, it's just a matter of getting them and my purse string.

Thank you Bornagain, definitely Heuchera for the more shady places and yes Erigeron Karv.... checked it out and it's for beginners, so I shall go for that too, I like things that flower for ever and dangle as well. Good advice BA thank you

Hywel, dont say poor bird, Titchy is happy, she doesn't know anything but being in a cage, I do take her out in the evenings, in the darkened room, stroke her and cuddle AND kiss her, but the cage is her domain. She loves going outside though (in the cage) to get fresh air and when she sees other birds, she quickly starts to eat as though worried they'd come to take her food. Made sure her cage was a biggish one so she flies from side to side to stretch her wings. Oh! nearly forgot, thanks for complimenting on my garden.

its all looking good.....is Titchy a canary or budgie... my budgie sky comes out of his cage and plays with his toys on the table all morning every day and goes back to his cage when he wants to.....

Hi Holly, Titchy is a canary - they are quite different from budgies, not only in appearance but in their needs and characters. In general canaries are much more shy, they don't have toys and are not playful. But again they can be extremely clever can be trained to do certain things, mine will only come onto my finger and be held in my hand and will only have a weekly bath for me. So they seem to trust only their keeper, which is fine as i am now on my own anyway. Take care you and sky.

Looking great Titchy.....everything filling out nicely. If you want some quick trailers, you could pop in some Nasturtium seeds...they soon pop up and start trailing. I had a lovely Canary Jasper, Titchy, she was very happy in her cage and I would take her outside while I was gardening, she sang too which was unusual for a female...bless her.....

Your planting looks very good, Titchy...everything is maturing nicely and in some places cascading over the fronts of the tiers which does look good.
I'd be happy with the planting if it were my garden but as you would like to add more planting and make some changes I am sure others will be along with some good suggestions for you.
Your bird, Titchy, is taking the sun and fresh air I see :)
