A few weeks ago i did a blog on the bluetits in my nest box.
There were seven eggs to start with, but i only counted five chicks.
I watched them growing every day, goodness knows how they didn’t get sufficated the nest looked so full,i watched them stretching their wings, and flapping about. I didn’t intend to miss anything, but on saturday morning 29th may i got up to find only two left. the others must have left in the early hours.
We always have a cooked breakfast at the weekend so hubby covers the tv up so it doesn’t get splashed. You’ve guessed it. in the time it took to eat our eggs and bacon the other two went and i missed it.I was so disappointed after watching them for so long.I think they were waiting for that cover to go on what do you think?
Anyway here are a few pics, they are a bit bleared,as the chicks wouldn’t keep still and pose for me.L.jpg!

Hello Tulsalady, the story of the Bluetits was great and loved the pictures. We have quite a few tits visit us now, loads of sparrows and a little Robin who comes to eat our fat balls on a regular basis. I think he must live nearby. Never really interested in birds until recently and now I find them fascinating little things.

Hi Bellflower i loved watching them, every morning i switched the tv on and there they were. we took the box down recently to clean it and the nest is so small, it makes you wonder how they all survived. The camera will definately be back in next year.

These pictures are great although a bit blurry one can see the babies quite clearly. What wonderful little darlings, brings back memories from about 7-8 years ago when we had 10 babies in the nest box, yes 10. The mum and dad must have been exhausted by the time their youngsters flew the nest, and I am happy to say, I watched them all take their maiden flight to a nearby huge apple tree. With the exception of one who ended up on the fence. I picked it up (no weight at all-but could feel the heart beat) and took it up nearer the tree. soon it flew in the right direction. Thanks for showing your great pictures. Amazing!
