A couple of Days Away ...part 3

If you remember I posted a blog about our couple of days away. Our first day we visited Burton Agnes Hall. My previous two blogs covered the beautiful gardens, but then we went to look at the tiny parish church, next to the Hall and finally the Hall itself.
The drive to the church is lined with 300 year old Yews, which over the years have formed an arch way.
I saw this fungi growing under the Yew trees…does anyone know what it is?
Then it was off to see the inside of the Hall
You may have noticed one or two of these beautiful plants around the Hall (Streptocarpus) I was smitten and purchased three from the tourist shop.
I hope you’ve enjoyed sharing our visit to Burton Agnes Hall. If you haven’t been, I can’t recommend it high enough.

Haven't been Waddy so its on the list, was good to see one that wasn't all dark looking, I know its to preserve all the decor, paintings and all the other treasures but this one looked more welcoming, thankyou for sharing..

Another great day out Waddy - thankyou! I think the fungus is probably a parasol or a shaggy parasol- excellent soup maker! You can check (though its too late now!) by seeing if the ring on the stem can be moved up and down.

Burton Agnes Hall looks like a palace. Would love to spend a week there. Thanks so much for sharing your visit Julia - a place I can only dream about! :)

Lincslass; It is for the most part very light and airy. They welcome is so obvious, we were told we were free to sit anywhere we liked, both inside and out unless there was a notice asking you not to. We were also free to take photographs anywhere we liked. Not something you hear of very often these days. I know we'll be going back again.

Steragram ; I knew someone on here would recognise it, thank you. I don't think I'll risk the soup though lol!

Very wise Waddy - you need to be absolutely sure! (But it beats shop mushroom soup, the flavour is similar but more intense)

I remember when I was a child helping to pick mushrooms in a field near my house. They tasted far nicer than the ones I buy in the shops these days.
