Escaping the crowds on August Bank Holiday - second attempt!!

(Overnight, all the photos mysteriously disappeared from my blog so I have decided to start again!
I do apologise to everyone who commented on it, I did not want to lose your kind comments.)
We decided to stay away from the crowded coast yesterday and headed up onto Dartmoor instead. It is usually possible to find lots of beautiful and quiet places there.
First of all, we called in at Finch Foundry, Sticklepath. It is owned by the National Trust. It used to be a working blacksmith’s forge powered by a water wheel. The machinery still works and there are regular demonstrations for the visitors.
We then went to Belstone, a pretty village on the edge of Dartmoor.
We saw numerous animals all seeking shady places!
There were lots of photo opportunities :
Ancient structures
Rusty machinery
Stone walls with their own beauty
The many footpaths looked inviting, the one we took led to a lovely, fast flowing river.
Autumn colours were beginning to appear on the trees.
I think we made the right choice not to head to the coast yesterday. Up on the moor it was so peaceful and unspoilt.
P.S.
Hope the photos survive the night!!

Goodness, the photos are still here, that's good!
Sandra, it was a nice way to spend a very hot day but is much cooler once again now! You have spent many happy moments under your umbrella this summer - perfect place to be.
Oh yes, the photo of me!!! I shall add it on at the end!!! Thanks Julia, we often call in at the foundry just for a cup of coffee. It has a nice garden to sit in.

Not an area I know well, so thanks for blog....(。♡‿♡。)

Hi Wildrose, beautiful blog and photos! I’ve had some issues with my pics appearing and disappearing. Hywel had mentioned, previously, he’d had issues with GOY. Not sure what’s happening?
Rain here today, most welcome. I struggled in the heat yesterday at work..air con only in my car.

Oh that's better W'rose, I did enjoy reading about your visit but it is good to see the photographs as well, lts a lovely place and you found some lovely shady spots, I enjoy looking around old workings and even better if they have been maintained so as one has the opportunity to see them working. Thankyou for doing it all over again, spirit of a true Goyer, we won't be beaten, lol...
