A walk along a sheltered cliff path near Boscastle.

Cornwall was under sunny skies today so we walked along the cliffs near Boscastle which had a number of wild flowers and lots of gorse against the deep blue sea.

I feel sure you will recognise all the wild flowers that we saw.

I do not know the name of the next flower so please help me. I think it is only found in coastal places.

Here is an empty table just waiting for you so do come along and join me!!

I do apologise if unwanted adverts have crept into this blog, it is a real shame.

That was a lovely walk and lovely weather to go with it :)
I don't get ads, I have blocked them.

The flower you don't know is Sea Campion.
Like many plants it has changed its botanical name - it used to be called Silene maritima but now they call it Silene uniflora.

It belongs to the same family (Caryophyllaceae) as the Red Campion, Silene dioica, which you've also shown a photo of.
Pinks and Carnations, Sweet Williams and Gypsophylla also belong to the same family ...

Sorry about the botany lesson lol but it's the sort of thing I am so interested in :)

I agree with the plant id's Hywel, the previous one is pennywort Umbillicus rupestris so I wasn't sure if you meant that as blinking ads get in the way. I can't get a free ad blocker on this laptop grr.

lovely blog. I love to see the sea.

Thanks to all of you for such lovely comments and special thanks to Hywel for telling me the name of the flower that I didn’t know. I shall remember it from now on.

I didn’t know umbillicus, so thanks to SBG for that one. Lovely blog. My iPad doesn’t seem to block ads. But I can live with them.

Umbilicus grows on the wall around an old churchyard near here. I may go and take some photos of it one day soon, if I get a chance ...
