So excited about blue skies and a big yellow sun!

Down in the south west it has been the wettest, greyest and windiest of winters!
Our garden has been like a paddy field but because of the mild temperatures the weeds are thriving in our heavy clay soil!
This is a gloomy start to my blog but it now cheers up!

We woke up today to a clear blue sky, morning sunshine and a frosty scene outside.

We could have worked in the paddy field but went out instead!

We drove to Padstow and had a lovely few hours in the glorious sunshine. I do love the sun and how much better I felt as it shone down on me!

Here are two photos of the harbour. In the second photo it is easy to see ‘Firethorn’ one of the boats used on Scilly to get people to and from Tresco and Bryher. It was strange to see it in the ‘wrong’ place!

We went on the ferry across to Rock. We had a long walk on the beach and it was so good to see the silhouettes of people and dogs all enjoying the low winter sunshine. Everybody was quietly appreciating this respite from the rain!

I bet you can guess what we had for lunch! They were not from Rick Stein’s this time as it was too crowded in there, but they were very nice and not quite as expensive!!!

Tomorrow is forecast to be another sunny day so I will go out in the garden and if I find anything in my ‘paddy field’ to show you, I will take a photo or two!

Good for you, can’t think of anything better, sun, sea, and fish and chips...... my idea of heaven, especially at the moment we are preparing for the decorator! I would rather be in the garden, but, it has to be done, unfortunately, lovely photos btw.....

I too am waiting for my decorator to start on the dining room!
He is sitting watching the football at the moment!
Perhaps tomorrow!
Hope yours goes well and that you are very happy with the results.

I have just read Hywel's blog and mine seems so trivial in comparison.

I do hope you don't mind me adding it. I wanted to share my day with you but the timing is unfortunate.
I would delete it but have already had one lovely comment so it would seem wrong to delete that also.

Lovely blog and pictures, Wildrose. The colours are wonderful, lots of blue sky and sunshine. We’ve had similar weather, as Eileen mentioned.
I haven’t been down this way for several years either, but, have enjoyed every visit! Your fish and chips looked tasty! Mouth watering picture! Hope you enjoyed them! The paddy field can wait another day, it’ll be there tomorrow!

Ooh...now I’ve seen this I really fancy a fish supper! Lol! The blue sky was so intense and what a lovely beach! I’m glad you enjoyed your day. Much better idea than working in a paddy field! :)

I like Padstow we have a picture on our dining room wall which we bought there as a reminder of a lovely holiday many years ago ... Our daughter brought her 3 Collies over yesterday for a walk on the beach ,they loved it . I'm glad enjoyed the blue sky and sunshine Chris ,perfect for blowing the cobwebs away ...

I've posted a photo of my fish and chips from Bridlington on my latest blog Wildrose. Yours persuaded my husband to take me to the seaside for the afternoon.

Thank you everyone, those blue skies are already a distant memory!!

Seaburngirl.......tell your husband I am heading off to the white sand and palm trees of Antigua tomorrow! (I'm not, but it might just get you there, as the fish and chips worked!!)

Hello Chris, that's a good photo of you ! We love to go to our local restaurent for fish n chips too !
I loved the views , especially the blue skies ! Every time we have a good day here , we go on the sea front but can't walk far with the chilly easterly winds. We have had a good few days and have managed to get out in the garden which makes us all feel good , doesn't it. xxx

Hello Rose, like you we try to go out on the better days. We did attempt a walk on the cliffs at Bude recently and had to turn back as the wind was bitterly cold! I am a fair weather walker!!
Today we only got to 5 degrees so I wasn't tempted to go anywhere!!!

That would be brilliant but it wont happen as he wont fly. hates queuing and waiting in airports. So It tends to be uk based and occasionally a ferry to Bruges / Rotterdam.

I know exactly how he feels! I used to enjoy the flights as part of my holiday but not any more.

I am the same as you Chris but its harder for Rick as he is just sat in the wheel chair !
