Hi all, just seen an interview on breakfast TV with Sarah Raven. She is hosting a programme tonight BBC 2 @ 8pm “Bees, Butterflies & Blooms”.
I dont know if this has been aired before, but it looks really interesting. She is trying to get everyone to plant more plants & flowers to help our wildlife.
Tonights episode is “Villages, Farms & Countryside”.
Next week “Towns, Gardens & Britain in Bloom”
The following week “Cities & the Urban Landscape”.
Looks Good.
A couple of weeks ago on a routine visit to the £1 shop, I picked up these with a view to scatering them up where I walk my dogs. As much for my benifit as the birds & bees. So I feel like Im doing my bit.

Thanks Bloomer - Terra. I have just been & had a look.
Great blog TT I always seem to miss the good programmes. Do you know when GW is starting again?
Hywel the seeds are not for my garden, dont have enough room. Just thought I would put them somewhere I will see them everyday.
I walk my dogs up an old airfield so I dont think anyone will mind me scattering a few seeds.

I saw Sarah Ravens interview this morning too Willi. She said, she wanted to put the idea of creating wild flower verges on council owned pieces of land - even odd verges. May be we should write to our respective local councils to put a case for this. SR even suggested it could save money for councils as they would not have to pay for the grass to be mowed. I think this makes alot of sense. I do like your idea of sowing seed on a piece of ground near to you. Not too sure if its legal!!- Im sure it will be better for the bees though.

Hi Poppy, thats a good idea, we will have to have a chat over coffee about that.
I walk the dogs up at the old West Malling airfield. They use to keep it looking quite nice but not anymore so my seeds should be welcome.

Good idea to brighten up your walk..we have an unadopted road next to our garden with a patch of grass/gravel on it & i have 2 boxes of seeds waiting to be scattered on to it..:o)

Oh dear Bilbo hope you was recording it.
It was really interesting, I love all the little bugs & bees.
I think I might save a few of them seeds & put them in pots like you say, thats a good idea.

Am very interested in the Wildflowers. I did the same thing. What a great idea in the pots. As soon as I get to Vermont am going to do that. Did you thin them or just let them go. My problem is that I do not know all the leaves. So I have to wait until they are bigger. This happened in the garden proper and couldn't tell what was what!

Hi Wells.
You could photograph the young leaves and put the pictures on GoY in a blog, or in a Question, and maybe members would help with ID. Which are which. !

There was a similar program a few years ago, with Sarah Raven. I don't know if these are repeats.
You're going to have a colourful garden this year :o)
