Last One Out Shut The Gate

I was expecting two last group visits to the garden but the one last week, despite confirming a week earlier, never showed up and the group for next week have just cancelled their booking. While this is disappointing, it does mean I can crack on with the changes and work planned for this autumn (weather permitting).
Thanks to a grand turn-out for our Open Gardens last month and more group bookings than ever before, Gill and I have raised around £950 for charity this year through the Yellow Book. We are considering a spring opening for 2010 but have not finalised the date yet – watch this space.

Well done Andrew and Gill...
... that's a great amount raised for charity..
Although you can now carry on with your bit on the side ~ with Gill's permission, Lol. ~
it is a pity when people cancel at rather short notice...
... or just don't turn up at all...
I reckon you will be topping the £1,000 mark in 2010 :o)

That is an excellent sum to raise by anyone's standards. It is annoying that folk cancel, never mind don't bother turning up!
Opening in the Spring sounds and excellent idea...

Well done Andrew and Gill
A spring opening next year, does that mean your magnificent wisteria will be in bloom?

TT - not sure we'll be able to match this year's total. Our decision to open in August paid off as there were very few other gardens open so late in the visiting season; there is much more 'competition' in spring. But we did make more on plant sales at our May opening last year.
Lily - the wisteria doesn't flower until the second half of May and we're thinking of opening a month before that. You'll have to arrange a private visit :-)

Congratulations Andrew, what an amazing total for this year you should be extremely pleased with yourselves.
I just wish you were a bit closer or I was a bit closer !?!
We were hoping to make it this year as Carol has rellies in your area but it didn't pan out.
Good luck for 2010 and I hope you raise even more money for charity :~))

That is great you both have raised the amount you have, for charity I wish luck for you both for next year and all goes well. I will eagerly await this space next spring, as to me its the most colourful and refreshing sight after seeing dismal weather through the winter days.
