***Some succulents around the garden***

We have been collecting succulents for a very long time, some we keep, and are now over 30 years old (cuttings taken for the original plants) others we lose to the dreaded vw…..here are a few that are outside…
The jade plant (money plant) is my latest cloud pruning….all the new growth along the limbs has been removed, just leaving growth on the end of the branches, every time I see new growth I rub it off, I am also doing this with a pretty Lavender, only time will tell!!
We have more succulents in the conservatory, the ones that would not be happy outside, hope you enjoyed our little collection…
Angela
Sorry forget this one…..

What a lovely collection. Do you bring them all in or protect overwinter?

Some of mine have made a lot of growth this year, it's a job to find enough bowls for them all. Yours are looking very well.

They are indeed Hywel.....Resi they have to come in, the winter wet would kill them!..
GF same here, we only have so much space.....

You have a nice collection of succulents there, Angela! You & Hywel probably have the biggest collection on GoY!
Why do you rub off all the new growth on your Jade plant? Generally, we are encouraged to pinch out our plants to encourage new growth but you are doing the opposite!
Other than when I was creating my Fuchsia standards when I had to do the same on the trunk, I have rarely rubbed out new growth on my plants, so it seems curious!

You have a nice selection there. I do like the little arrangements in pots. They must need repotting and rearranging quite often?

They are lovely DD and I also like your planters.

Thanks Callie.....Stera you are correct they do have to be repotted fairly regularly......OH sees to that, thank goodness!
Balcony I want the stems to be bare, and the growth on the ends only, just as you did with your standard fuchsias, eventually the stems will seal over, and all the growth will be where I want it!! to create a cloud pruned plant........I shall keep you posted!!

They are lovely. Some of your pots are gorgeous. The one in the 5th photo is particularly beautiful..it looks antique? I have to be careful now, especially with the tree aeoniums because they all have to come indoors over the winter, and I don't have a conservatory now of course. All the downstairs bedroom and study windowsills will be crowded with succulents all winter :)

I'd never heard of "Cloud pruning" till now! I looked it up on the RHS site & it seems it can take many years. Perhaps with the plants you are using it will be quicker.

Karen, just made to look old!! that does present a problem, keeping them going over the winter, we had the conservatory built for that reason!!
Balcony I have just put some photos on of our cloud pruning, and yes they do take many years and patience! but worth it!

Thanks, I'll go along & have a look. ??

Interesting plants aren't they. I've put mine outside now too, they seem to enjoy the rain. You've got some lovely ones :)
