WHAT'S IN A NAME

Harli

I enjoyed hearing about your garden assistants, now I would like to know how you came up with your GOY name.

I read the name Harli in a book when I was young and decided I would name my little girl that someday. I had two sons and somehow it just wouldn’t work for them. I started using Harli on internet sites when I didn’t want to use my real name, and now it has become my nickname and most call me that.
How about you?

I needed a handle for a knitting website so I tried to use Wooly Bully from the old song by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs, it was already taken so I changed it slightly and used Wohl-which is the beginning of my maiden name adding ibuli for Wohlibuli. It was just easy to use the same handle here.

Wohibuli ~ Very clever and a great name for a knitting club.

Irish ~ When I first saw your handle, I thought she's either Irish or has a bad temper and it's a warning. LOL

What can I say, I LIKE AND COLLECT GARDEN GNOMES so it became me. (Pun intended.)

My partner frequently refers to my enormous conk (which it isn't by any means!) then we moved to Spain so I chose "nariz" because it is Spanish for "nose."

When I joined GOY I didn't realise what I was letting myself in for. I only joined to ask a question.
I thought I only needed a sort of password so I chose my cat's name - Blodyn.
Then I found I was talking to people and they were calling me by that name which really means 'flower' . I should have chosen something else.
So now I've been asking to be called by my real name - Hywel.
I've put this on my icon so that everyone sees it although it does look rather drab. I might change it one day.
All the best, Hywel.

Hi HYWEL! (just to tell you that I haven't forgotten!)

Harli, I chose mine because 'Spritz' was a dearly-loved dog who belonged to my son, and of course Henry is - well - Henry! You've met our Labrador, haven't you?

Irish ~ A fighting Irish? I just knew it!
I'll meet you on mainstreet at high noon, and my
choice of weapon is water pistols starting at 10 ft. LOL

Hywell ~ Nothing wrong with Blodyn but if you prefer Hywell. I can think of a lot worse passwords you could have chosen. LOL

I am the female version of the name Harli and no I don't like motorcycles. Haven ridden on the back of a few though.
The picture is of me and my husband Gary several years ago.

Clarice ~ That is a beautiful memory. It's been 11 yrs. since my Mother passed and I still find myself thinking I should call and tell her something. There is no good age to lose a parent. Im sure all the best parts of her are still within you.

LOL Lyd ~ I love it! You were an entrepeneur at a very early age. I wonder if you could milk it for more. Someone call marketing. (just teasing).

I'm very boring. Chris, short for Christine is my first name and Pook is our surname. My maiden name was Jarvis and I used to wonder if I should have kept that. Many years ago when training as a midwife I used to get called Nurse Puke!!!
I'm used to the name now after 40 years.

LOL Chris.

Harli - I didn't think 'Flower' was an appropriate name for a middle-aged man , that's why I changed my mind.
All the best, H.

I just like Daffodils, It's harder that you think to pick a name.

When I registered here I was going to use the name of my house, Vistabile, but as I look after two gardens I thought confusion might arise between the two.
On many forums I have found my name already being used so for GoY I just typed it backwards.

11 Sep, 2008

Xela ~ I think you are the only name on GoY with initial 'X'.
I'm still looking for a 'Q' .
Please let me know if you find one !
