Also known as: Common nettle; Stinging nettle; The Naughty Man’s
Plaything.
Plant folklore: Good for the skin and the kidneys. Relieves gout.
Eaten as a vegetable in spring will protect against disease for the rest of the year.
Beating the wrists with the plant treats arthritis.
Used as a whip in punishment.
In Denmark, stings protect against sorcery.
Introduced to Britain by the Roman soldiers who expected to need to beat themselves with nettles to keep warm.!!
Said to reduce prostate enlargement and thus, have aphrodisiac properties!!!!
“Grasping the nettle” is supposed to flatten the tiny hairs which carry the stinging compounds and, thus prevent the sting.
Removes curses, allays fear and averts danger.
Factual inf: Sting can be alleviated by rubbing dock leaf on the skin.
Dock is often found close to nettles

Bloomin' things! They hide from me under other plants and 'get' me just when I don't expect it! There aren't any docks in my garden, either. :-(((

A girl has got to get her bumps some way hehe nettle tea is good for you helps you to pass water easier good for the kidneys gentler to the them , if you have inflamation especially in the legs as a nurse from another garden site told me to drink. Nettles also attract butterflies too.
