Just wanted to share with you the amount of fallen apples after last night’s storm! Will be leaving them at the end of drive again.

Aren't you going to stew and freeze lots of them?

Have got two trees, one is an eating apple -not particularly nice - don't know the name and the other is a very sharp cooking apple. Copious apple pies, crumble and chutneys, sauces have been made and stored in the freezer. This is just surplus to our requirements! In total must have put out 5 wheelbarrows! They say it has been a good year for apples! Have had some lovely comments from people walking past my drive helping themselves, good to know they are not going to waste.

My goodness. At least the wind is good for something.

Crikey.....yes it's been windy here too.......most of the Oak leaves came down over the weekend from the tree behind our garden and they are all trapped behind my greenhouse so I have a clearing job tomorrow.
Will you leave a few of the bruised apples(if any) for the birds over winter?

Pails patch- yes have left loads of the eating apples in my wildlife part of the garden. Nothing goes to waste! Talking about clearing out leaves, I've got to clear and sweep the public footpath adjacent to my garden boundary tomorrow- both my green wheelie bins are full up so it'll have to go to the dump... Great.....

Yes our apple trees have done well this year as well - and the leaves on the acers have finally given up and are now a red carpet on the lawn - Jane

I have loads stored for the winter and still picking them up, did think about putting some out to see if anyone would like some but folk are weird around here these days, most of them don't even say hello...

Yes, lots of apples this year. I have been given quite a few but our little Bramley tree hasn't done badly at all. Keep thinking every apple has fallen and next day there are one or two on the ground.
Lincslass: Can't understand their reluctance. In September I saw a big basket of plums outside a house in Somerset with a notice, "Help yourself". I just wished I had a basket with me as the plums were large, and lovely, and there were LOTS of them on offer!
People round here either bring bags of apples round or have a wheelbarrow outside. Makes sense!
I store some whole apples and freeze stewed apples

Wish I was in your neighbourhood, I could use some apples. Round here all I've seen is a table at the end of a drive saying £1.00 a bag (small plastic bag holds about 4 or 5).

Gosh! It has certainly been windy - until the last few days there were still quite a few leaves on the trees around here, but most of them are down now! What sort of apples are they?
