March tidy up

It has been so nice to see some sunshine and get back out in the garden. The weather here changed on March 1st and i had the day off so made the most of it.
I was able to tidy up a lot of the side garden and cut the grass.

Just trimming the lawn edges made a big difference.

The top of the steps.

There are some bulbs coming up but my plan now is to cheat and plant lots more that i’ve bought growing in pots. I never seem to get them where i really want if i plant bulbs and after clearing the borders i can see where the gaps are.

Blue sky and the Ash

Not much in the pot store.

This is Hebe ‘Alex’ still trying to flower after all the cold weather and snow.

And hopefully not long now till this……

Looks more like this :-))))

Your lawn is looking so good Annella , ours has so much moss in it, we have bought a huge sack of moss killer all ready to treat it , i'm sure there won't be any grass left by the time we've finished ....
Your shrubs look lovely and healthy .. it's very dull, bitterly cold and overcast here this morning .. :o(

Amy I have lots of moss In the bottom lawn which i will have to treat. It's still too wet to walk on at the minute as it gets no sun till late March. And it's very cold here again today :-(

Annella your garden looks so lovely, and with grass like that its certainly worth growing (I usually think lawns are a waste of time, as they are more often just a patch of grass.)
What you are doing with bulbs is such a good idea, as you can see exactly where spaces are. Cost more, but fine if you don't mind. I'd far rather spend money on the garden than clothes or make-up. Not just 'cos I'm long in the tooth, I always have.

Same here Mad. I've already bought some Daffs to put in, they came from Homebase and were £1.99 a pot, not too bad with about 5 bulbs in each. I will put them in at the weekend if it warms up a bit.

it is definitely chilly today, isn't it. Your garden is really looking good - the bright daffodils will look lovely. :-)) Any others going in as well?

That first trim makes all the difference, it looks smashing Annella............

Spritz I have hyacinths coming up which are blue and the new Daffs are Jet Fire so more blue to go with the orange would be good. I love Anenome blanda and have bought some Primula Wanda the same as the one you posted today last weekend. My soil is horrible so lots of the summer flowering bulbs are going in pots until they are established.

Thanks Linclass, this is really the earliest I've been out in the garden. In the past I would have worried about what the neighbours thought!! being on GOY makes all the difference :-))

You are a really fastidious gardener Annella! Your garden looks stunning and soooo tidy and precise. I admire that! I know lots of folk advocate wilderness and leaving things messy for the insects etc., but I can't help but enjoy order and a well pruned shrub or ten! Well done you. It's lovely!

Your garden looks wonderful all year round Annella. You have lots of nice mature shrubs. I don't think you're cheating with planting bulbs from pots. It's a sensible idea :o)
