‘Jack O’Lantern’ all lit up!
The Pumpkins I sowed in the greenhouse on Gerry’s allotment in June this year …
… & later planted out on his plot …
… were harvested at the end of September & beginning of October.
They spent a few weeks drying in the GH before I brought them home:
I brought them home a few days before Halloween …
… & my wife carved the first one for our g’kids:
It was her first ever attempt!
My wife promised our 2 grandkids a Halloween party at our place as the 31st coincided with the Thursday we always have one of them with us, as it was also the school holidays we expected to have both of them & we had been planning the things for a party.
Unfortunately the starter motor in their dad’s car broke when they were on their way home on Wednesday evening. They weren’t able to get it fixed that night or the next day so they had to hire a car for a week.
As the kids couldn’t come on Thursday they came on Saturday instead & spent the whole day with us.
Pumpkins ‘Jack O’Lantern’ caved into funny faces:
I carved 4 of them:
The 4 I did were also my first ever attempt at carving Pumpkins as well! You can judge how well I did in the photos!

Thanks everyone for your comments. :-))
I suppose they do look rather "scary" lit up with candles inside. Actually I think the camera made them look darker than they really were.
Being my first ever attempt they didn't come out too bad & it seems you all think the same!
The grandkids were rather "nonplussed" I'd say! They are very used to seeing scary videos as their parents, especially their father, likes scary films.
For our g'daughter it's not the first time either. She is now 6 years old & last year her mum made a scary face pumpkin from one I gave her. I gave her another this year but the kids haven't said anything about it. Maybe she didn't get around to making it or they are no "impressed" by them.
Today I took them back to the allotments, to mine specifically. I'll upload a photo or two so you can see them in their "final abode" .
