There is an old saying I was brought up with. Never cast a clout till may is out, that needs revising 14c here in Bristol today rain and wind .but never mind I took some pictures.
Clematis Flora Bijou, this was planted in this container early 2012 and has not been repotted.
Close up of above
This is the other hanging one not so large as it had to be split up but won’t go into that now.
Close up of above
Aquilegia Nivalis, had to show this it is the most delicate shade of blue unfortunately it barely shows in the picture( I know what colour it is )
Allium Unifolium. don’t think these will ever be a nuisance.
Rhododendron Gomer Waterer almost the last to flower but well worth the wait
close up of above
These ferns are all in pots close up to the wall, not on the ground in a frame I made to support them.
This is the last of the Rhododendrons for 2013 bet you are glad.
This one is known as the’ King’ can’t lay my hands on the book for the full name
This one Mrs Willmot
Allium the only one of these the slugs have left standing
Meconopsis from seed sent me by Amy,first to flower Thank you.
Lilium Martagon Album first flowers sent me by Pcw (Phil) about 18 months ago. Thank you.
Butterfly Delphinium these go through the winter well if you can keep the slugs away from the new shoots
One final snipit Having shown the Alliums yesterday found a pot of dwarf allium looking sick and on inspection found Vine weevil had eaten all the roots off
now that’s not a plant I would have expected them to eat. Is nothing sacred.
enjoy

Lovely blog Brian. Love those ferns, and the first clematis is gorgeous. I had a few vine weevil in the heucheras, but now I have those brown chafer bugs eating my roses !!

Great blog as always and such beautiful photos. Strange how slugs seem to go for different things in different gardens/areas. Delphiniums along with lupins and campanula glomerata are amongst the things I can't grow as the slugs destroy them:(

Another lovely selection Bjs - I'd never get fed up looking at your Rhoddies :)
Dryopteris affinis Cristata - I think is the proper name for 'The King'. I grow it - it's a gorgeous fern isn't it.
Your clematis are beautiful.
Sorry to hear it's cold down there - it seems you are suffering Scottish weather down there :)
Vine Weevils, I would never have thought they'd bother the alliums.
I smiled at your comment re Delphiniums and slugs - I think that's about the only thing I grow that they don't bother much about! I have a neglegted clump in the front garden about 6 years old and never saw sign of them on it!
