I promise,this won’t take long..not like the last blogs!!
We went to the Garden centre after a nice lunch nearby, and thought I would just have a browse,as you do..anyway,it never works, does it? ,and as Autumn will be with us before we know it,I spotted a good bargain..so thinking ahead..I bought these..I usually buy it off the roll,at 65p per metre..but these were 8 metre rolls at £2.99p each..on special offer, full price would have been £4.99p..so well pleased with that :o)
..and bought this too..Wonder if I should just throw it in a big dustbin,to let them help themselves,or look for an extra large feeder, and hoist it up,by a crane ? Lol.
..and then I just HAD to have this…
Rudbeckia ‘Early Bird’ for late summer colour..It only grows to 30" x18",so just right for the front of my border..
This is my Pyracantha ,already full of berries..inAugust !!
On a lighter note,The Photinia’Red Robin’,I bought for £2,in spring, has grown almost another foot, and has lots of new growth, after nipping out the top,and potting up another size..
The Pelargoniums are still flowering well,
so still a good reason for optimism in the garden..:o)

Thank you,Breda..I have no ides where the Photinia is going,eventually..as my garden is only small..It may even progress to a very large pot..they are in medium pots at the garden centres, and well established, but look healthy enough...I just had to have it ! :o)
Thanks Nanad..some more Morrison's specials! Lol.They have done very well,as they are in full sun most of the day..when we get some, that is..Rain most of today..but it is badly needed here..

Cheers Joanella,my old stuff is really past its best..but will still use it for around the pots..the new stuff,is going to be cut to fit inside the plastic growhouse cover,so a bit more protection,hopefully...ooh,posh..double glazing ! Lol.
The plant is in it's new home already..erm,what does browsing really mean..Have I got it wrong ??? :o))

Good buys Bloomer, the birds are ok for a while if they pop over for meals at your cafe, nice surroundings as well....
26 Aug, 2011
Aha, so this is what you've been buying! ... Firstly, Sandra, how are you going to attach the fleece to the plastic gowhouse? ... I would like to do the same but can't think how to keep it in place ... perhaps you have a 'Blue Peter' method ... lol! ... You're going to have some very happy feathered friends judging by the amount of seed on offer to them ... and isn't your Red Robin thriving? ... Love the Rudbeckia too :o)))

Oh,sugar !! I had just almost finished all the replies, including a very long description to Shirley,on how I was going to fix the fleece inside the growhouse..!!Grrr.
I just pressed the wrong button,..and lost them all..So sorry, but can't do them all again..thank you all for your lovely comments.I am so cross with myself...I might have to eat a KitKat,with my coffee..it's that bad !!!
glad you liked the Rudbeckia, and the other pics,I will tell you the plan another time Shirley...hope it works!!.I could be locked inside the darned thing,if it doesn't.:o))

26 Aug, 2011
Then you shall have to do a very long blog re. the fixing of the fleece to the plastic growhouse, Sandra! ... Sorry you pressed the wrong button ... story of my life ... bet you're smiling now with that Kit-Kat ... just pity me with my Ginger biscuit ... the lowest fat content biccie around! :o))))) . . .. .
A whole packet of Munchies, Pixi? ... Not what I need to read when I'm trying to lose weight ... enjoy them and don't worry about how I miss my chocolate ... lol! :o) . . . . .
26 Aug, 2011

26 Aug, 2011

26 Aug, 2011
Well,Pixi and Shirley..you will be pleased to hear,I resisted temptation..and had neither the kitkat or the coffee.Impressed?? I looked at the time, and it was a bit late, owing to taking so much time on the "lost" comments!! Almost suppertime..and you know what I will be having,Shirley..:o)),and no,Pixi..not two kitkats! Lol.

Hope you have somewhere mouseproof to store that birdseed Bloomer - one little chap was quids in when he discovered ours in the garage. We discovered a hole in the bag and heaps of husks behind an old cupboard.
Love those pink geraniums.
26 Aug, 2011
That's a meal for me, Sandra ... lol! . . . . .
26 Aug, 2011
glad you liked them,Steragram..thanks.The bird seed is already safely stored in an mouse proof container in the shed. ..it is also Sandra proof.(me) as I find it hard to prize the lid off ! Lol.Luckily,we have never had any mice in there, but taking no chances..:o))
Come on ,Shirley,I'll be playing that violin again !:o))
26 Aug, 2011
What's that saying? ... No pain, no gain ... or in my case, I'll be cross if there's no loss! . . . . .
26 Aug, 2011
Haha..love the last bit..:o)))).you are doing ok,bet you have lost quite a bit more now,Shirley..:o)
26 Aug, 2011

Hi Bloomer, Loved your blog and must say that my visits to any garden centre always end up like yours. I too have a Photinia ' red robin' which I planted 9 years ago and it is now about 18' or so tall and just as wide and it is gorgeous so you will love yours. Happy Gardening.
