Here’s where I was on Sunday, wonderful day out, great entertainment:~)
We arrived early, this living maze was very popular with the little ones.
Starting to fill up.
In one of the buildings was a stall where children could choose and colour a picture which was then made into a badge. Aislinn was very proud of hers.
It was dark in the building after the bright sunshine outside. My eye was strangely drawn to the window, waving at me were these beauties.
I opened the window as far as I could to take these. You will not be surprised to know that I am in love!
Leaning out to the left it was more formal, look at that deep pink hollyhack. All I want in my garden is hollyhocks and anything that looks like a hollyhock:)
Reluctantly I will leave the hollyhocks and trot down a passage on the left where I came upon daughter Boo (Rebecca) trying to kiss a ferret. There were gigantic hissing cockroaches too …she didn’t try to kiss them.
Outside now to a magic show, Aislinn (Granddaughter)on the front row.
Aislinn and a rescued hedgehog …so cute..
Tail end of marching band (very good)
Lots of vintage tractors….
Poor tired bear on this one.
Boo and Tony Portlock ( great musician) on this one
Aaaaah the band ….. Brilliant vocalist:~) They played, in different combinations, for hours.
Couldn’t resist this lovely pig mum and her 12! babies.
Northycote Farm and Country Park is owned by Wolverhampton Council, what a fantastic resource for nature lovers, schools and locals alike. The farm house itself dates back to around 1600. I wouldn’t mind going on one of their guided tours. There are many different animals and 90 acres to walk in. Amazing place.

Hi Bloomer, they're off to local town Willenhall Festival today. Chris's (son) band 'The Lock In' is playing there as well. OH not too good at the moment so I'm giving it a miss. It's another one Boo has organised for the charity Musicians For Life:-)

Thanks Paul, I got up the courage to touch the back of one of the cockroaches ...very brave! Couldn't quite pluck up the courage to actually hold one though. I'd just been holding a very sweet little mouse who unfortunately left many deposits on my hand, fortunately his owner had lots of wipes lol:-)

Always gallivanting Yorkie .....and dreaming of Ralphies legs.... sigh:-))

Hi Carole, what do you do about rust? I've been googling hollyhocks and wonder if there's a way to keep it at bay without harming any creatures? I used to have lots of musk mallows, but they got the dreaded rust after being free of it for years. I've bought a lovely new burgundy lavatera from Walsall market the other day to help with my hollyhock craving ...but it's not the same lol. Awkward getting it on the bus too. Isn't it funny, the flowers I want for next year seem to be very similar ..verbascums...hollyhocks ...upright mallow types:-)

We had a few days sun but really windy! It has rained overnight and looking greay today again :(

Hi BA I must be very fortunate I havent experienced any rust on my Hollyhocksor on my Mallows, isnt it strange [not that I want any lol] you seem to have the same taste as me, I am really pleased with the Lavertera from seed this year , huge big plant in pink, white and cerise;0)

Poor you Pixi:-( still sunny here, not as hot as it has been and I think it's all due to end, nice while it lasted though:-)
28 Jul, 2012
I had no rust here either Carole until I bought a very tall magentary mallow from a yellow book garden about 8 years ago. I suppose it only takes one and it went through all my musk mallows although this year and last there are some free from it...possibly built up resistance, hope so. Lavateras have never had it touch wood, but don't know if they're susceptible or not anyway. I wonder about sidalcea? I'll google:-)
28 Jul, 2012
I've never had it on my Sidalceas,Ba..so they should be ok..hope so,anyway :o)
28 Jul, 2012
Lots of mallow type next year Bloomer:-)
28 Jul, 2012
They are nice, aren't they? funny how we suddenly see something we get a liking for..I wonder what I will have next year? ...I fancy a change, but no idea what yet..
28 Jul, 2012
I'm terrible for that...one winter I ordered loads of different varieties of ivy! This last winter I bought lots of crocosmia......most of it died, rotted in all the wet lol:-)
28 Jul, 2012
Ah well,we can but dream..plenty time to decide yet..oh dear,what a shame :o(
28 Jul, 2012
If everything I bought survived.....I'd have to move house:-)
29 Jul, 2012
Glad you all had a great day BA.
Hopefully no mishaps! Lol.

I've no idea what you mean Willi.... well Paul (s-i-l)had bought me a big cream scone which I was carrying very carefully in a small brown paper bag so as not to squash it ...it jumped onto the floor:-)
30 Jul, 2012

30 Jul, 2012
