Pictures between the April showers

I thought I’d share some pictures of our garden, dashing out to take them between the heavy April showers!

My Leeks seem to be doing well, about the thickness of my forefinger. Don’t know how this compares with others, hoping to show these in the autumn! My first go at growing them.

Garlic coming along, these will go in the veg plot when it warms up (and is finished being dug!!!!)

I found a couple of packets of seeds these are Cerenthe, never tried them before but they are ready for potting on now.

Mixed Iris coming through- started in the GH to give them a head start before going in the garden when it warms up. Too many for us I think so looks like Mum, Mum in law and sisters will be getting some. I thought they were a bargin in Lidl so got 200 for £10!!

Various permanent plants trying to give them a chance to get a good root system before they go in the garden- day lillies, peonies, iris siberica, agapanthus, all not doing as well as the mixed iris :(

Tulips at the point where the sloping woodland garden meets the front garden.

Clematis Alpina White Columbine- just had to have this for the trellis! Planted a white climbing rose on the next panel, hoping they grow well and between them cover the trellis and next year have a long spell of flowers over it.

Pot at top of steps, you can just see the Fern starting to emerge. And the nettle growing well lol!!

Close up of the emerging Fern.

Close up of miniture daffodil and primrose growing in planters at top of the garden steps. Not sure of the variety.

Pet Cemetary- these primroses have been like this since October!

Fish in the pond- sadly we’ve lost quite a few suspect a Heron, as we had no bodies, but today had two dead Koi, so who knows? Will be netting this tomorrow morning just in case it’s a Heron.

Close up view of spring planter.

Another view- from across the pond, very tightly packed with plants all to be found a home somewhere when they finish flowering!

Wallflower and tulips, tulips haven’t grown as fast as the wallflowers!

This was our third pond, we emptied it last year, this year we’ve filled it with soil from what will be our gravel garden. Plan to plant it up with dwarf sunflowers and dahlias for the summer then lay decking over it in the autumn.

View from the Clematis trellis towards the Summer House (aka garden shed because the real shed leaks like a sieve!!) The border you can see is our problem, any ideas welcome. It’s got trees (various, conifer and laburnham mainly) underplanted with shrub roses, all needed for privacy, it gets very dry under it. Have put some Euonymus and Hydrangias but really need someting to add summer colour.

Nice to see all the plants in your garden doing well. Good luck with your leeks, and I hope you don't loose any more fish.

Thanks for the comments, the garden is a great size and as it's on different levels with different aspects it's interesting trying to sort it. We're trying to sort a bit at a time and stay on top of it as we move round it. There's a massive amount to do but we'll get it done eventually! Fixing the GH up has proved a boon as we can grow things on to go in when another area is sorted.
We have lost another fish- a koi again I've been told that some fish die from the shock of escaping from Herons! I'm also too late for entering the Leek show entries had to be submitted last September for show this September! So having a practise run growing them this year!!!
We've had two and a half inches of rain since Monday lunchtime so can't get out to finish digging my veg patch or new borders :((

I like gardening Magnadoodle, my wonderful lady likes gardens but isn't so much into gardening, lol, she likes it all instantly in colour! We're trying to get it all manageable at the moment.
