Trebah Garden, deepest Cornwall

Last Sunday, blessed with a lovely day again, i thought i would pop down into cornwall to visit the Trebah Gardens. It was about a 60 mile drive but the road system is very good, so it took about 1.5 hours. Trebah is nestled between Falmouth and Helston and is set in a beautiful valley leading down to its own beach. Even though it is December the write up of the garden was very good and i wanted to have a look with a view of returning in the spring.
As i said Trebah is set in a valley leading down to the sea. It is a nice gentle slope all the way down to the beach. On entry the first thing that i noticed was the distinctly tropical feel of the garden with some of the trees and plants. Further on down into the garden i did feel that i was in the tropics, with the sun beaming down through the overhanging fern trees. I must admit that i am really looking forward to returning in the spring to catch the rhododendrons and hydrangea in full bloom, plus they also have a lot of plants that you would only find in tropical climes that will hopefully be on display. One thing that you do notice whilst walking through there is a real sweet smell in the air, i don’t know if that was aloe vera as there was a lot of these plants dotted all over. Here are some of the photos that i took on the day, hope that you enjoy them.

We visit The Lizard in Cornwall often at this time of year and I can confirm Trebah is a very special place, as is Glendurgan next door. Both have a unique ambience, whatever the season. My favourite spot there is the deep koi pool - very lush, as your picture shows. Great photos, as always, Davey.

You could easily convince anybody that this was somewhere much more exotic than England Davey! Its tempting to imagine the whole place full of daffodils - hope you do go back later and take some springtime pics. I love that little white bridge!

We love Trebah Gardens and your photos have captured it's beauty perfectly. It really is a lovely place to visit plus it has a really nice cafe and gift shop!!
Do return in the late spring to see the azaleas and rhododendrons at their very best.

I haven’t been here for many years, it’s lovely to live vicariously through your blog! It’s great to see the fern varieties and all the lushness in your photos. Please post your pics when you return in the spring! Look forward to it!

It looks an interesting place. The sheltered spot must be nice to visit on a sunny day :)
