Before & After - For Jacque

In January work began on our garage build – my poor garden has suffered.
We have left the area clear for a few years knowing the building work would be taking place.
Here is the area pre-build.
The ground was cleared …..
The earth was moved from the surface which messed up the lawn :-( To say the least!!! This was just a fraction of it, it got worse, the clay from the footings followed.
The garage was finally completed and the clay removed – by me and my beloved by shovel! which wrecked the lawn :(
New fence erected.
4 months from the start we have the border sorted and plants set – almost done but still lots to do, as ever. The work has certainly kept me busy over the last few months. Dawn x

Hello Irsih/Sewingk: Yes, lots of work done since we started on 20.1.09 - stayed quite dry except for when we had the dreaded snow. The garage is my husband's design - you know what men are like - he wants it for all his toys, lol.

~he must have a lot of toys!It is looking good and the grass has grown back or did you turf it?

I have a large double in the back garden so hubby can have his toys in one place. I think it was worth the sacrifice of a bit of garden to kepp him happy. :o)

Arlene: I just filled the ruts with soil and used grass seed - still more to do though, the last picture shows a good bit, lol.
Seaburn: You know where I'm coming from then!
This is in the back garden too - adjacent to the house so now he only has to walk across the drive to it.

ours is at the bottom of the garden so in the winter i have to keep washing the outplace kitchen floors. but i do know where he is and what he is up to :o))

looks great dawn, lots of hard work there, but well worth it, border looks really good, :o)

Know what you mean Seaburn, would rather have them in the garage tinkering than down the pub, lol.
Sandra: Long time, no speak - been a bit busy.
Yep, lots of hard work but that's fine, still lots to do though - slabbing tomorrow, weather permitting!

What a creation! It's enormous...I hope he appreciates it. I like the curvy borders, by the way. Looking good.

What is it with men and garages, lol. John has wanted one like this forever. The loft part isnt boarded out yet and the staircase will follow too. If in the future we wanted to have the top storey as office space or whatever we would have to apply to the council for 'change of use'. I'll keep feeding the plants on the bed in the hope they'll grow quickly. I've told John, this is the last big project - I'm getting too old for all the work that follows.

You understand now Jacque why I've had no time. We had a builder to build it but we've been doing all the ground work - still lots to do but at least its clean underfoot now. We are pleased how its turned out. I told the builders to be careful around the monkey puzzle - it was surrounded by clay but it was fine :)

Good thing 2 that those Builders Were Careful cos id be after them if theyd of hurt that lovely Monkey Puzzle Dawn :) Iv seen many of them in gardens around here where i live & think their Fab Trees :)

Ha ha Ray. They say there's no rest for the wicked .... well, I must be very wicked, lol. I tried to post a picture of the pile of clay at its worst but too big to load, never mind. We certainly went to bed with very stiff backs, lol.
