Spring on speed up

Bulbs blooming really fast now. Several Bee Flies hovering and darting to catch other insects. Occasionally break off to have a contact with another Bee Fly. Lots of butterflies so far this year. Mostly lovely big Peacocks, not got a decent pic so far. Sorted out the Gazebo’s mucky floor after an excursion for a floor cleaning product from a new mini chain grocery outlet. Still have to return the contents. I have my green lounger arranged on the crazy paved circle and my soil filled pots of Heucheras are thriving too. So far so good

Last year I bought a little pot of these bulbs….name? I popped them in my spent bulbs place. I am delighted they have bloomed so well.

My new sitting out area, more private than before. Shady and sheltered.

Early pear blossom on one of 4 trees in the border, aubretia, pink and yellow tulips and colourful Spireas. Thrift in an old sink has been in bloom for some time now

This is the smelly onion/allium, my sworn enemy, pulled out of the front of the border about 1 hour ago. Hiding in plain site! For Fran, note the pointed bud and the collection of little bulbs. Soon forms a colony. This one has fast tracked itself to bloom soon instead of May or even June.

Your garden is looking very colourful and Springlike I like your new sitting area, I think your pretty bulbs could be fritillias?

Looks lovely and sunny there Dorjac - your pink Camellia is gorgeous! I agree re bulbs - Fritillaria meleagris (snake's head fritillary) and is classed as a British wild flower.

Your garden looks amazing, Dorjac, and no bare earth in sight! I can see lots of flowerss on a pink/red camellia - beautiful. My red one has only produced small flowers this year and I wonder why. It's an improvement on last year when it only had a couple of flowers. I wonder if I should prune it, or feed it maybe. The pink and white one have done well this year. I like your sitting area but do you ever get to use it? :)

What a very pretty border, and I love your fritillaries! Very rare in the wild nowadays I think though there is a small highly protected clump in a field "somewhere near Stafford" which I was lucky enough to see some years ago.

Thanks Steragram. I had a block about the name of these lovely fritillaries. I had them before but they gradually went. I hope these multiply. I tend to go for strappy leaf perennials like Day Lillies Gee and Dutch Iris which are getting a bit bossy. Kniphofia and clumps of tulips. The penstemons stay green all winter but sprawl about. The heucheras seem to love being in the soil in pots. I have plenty of that to spare in the shrub border! I have planted several of them in the garden to see how they get on. Worth a try.

I found a fritillary in the garden today!!! I had quite forgotten planting any - there were a few others in bud as well - celebration time!

Thanks Linda a lot more have popped out today, as it has been sunny all day. Everything is a bit ahead of what it should be at the beginning of April.

I have a number of heuchera planted in the garden now, Dorjac, and they seem to do OK in my clay soil although were a bit slow to get going. I still have lots in pots though :)
