Some colour at last

Our garden been somewhat neglected the last two months as OH has been ill. We now have a gardener, a lovely chap, who is willing to tackle any job. Our offspring have also turned up trumps and have been sorting out the glory holes and disposing of cartloads of pots!
Two greenhouses were dismantled and taken away yesterday and a new cedar wood one has been ordered. The latter is to be their Dad’s birthday gift, in the hope that he will take an interest once again in our large garden.
After heavy frost in February and March we lost a lot of buds on our Spring shrubs. We feared the magnolias would suffer but to our amazement the large ones are better than ever this year, particularly the pink one. It used to be sheltered/ swamped by a weeping willow, but when the latter fell down one night, it has taken advantage of the light and really done well.
I have taken photos of the two magnolias but never seem to find an image that does them proud. From the upstairs windows they really look lovely.
The magnolia shrubs are much slower and I just hope that we will soon see some bloom at least. The wind still has a keen side, unfortunately.

Eirlys, I am so sorry your OH has been so unwell. I hope that he is feeling better soon. What a lovely present for for him, a "posh" greenhouse. Glad the gardener is going well and is nice. Love your photos.

Yes, I agree...a posh greenhouse would certainly perk me up if I’d been unwell! But seriously though, I hope he feels back to his old self soon and regains his enthusiasm. Your magnolias are fantastic. My stellatas are looking very sad. They think its january and haven’t swelled their buds since then. The older one looks to be struggling with hardly a bud. We’ll see....

Beautiful Magnolias and the garden sounds as if it is getting a right royal makeover! New greenhouse! Wow I am sure that will get OH back into the garden and raring to go. With the warmer weather now not just a distant memory, but almost here I am sure he will be lured outside.
A 'Gardener' makes you sound like the Lady of the Manor, but I am glad you have found one who is willing to do anything - rather than the usual sort who only cuts grass and mutilates everything else.

Aren't they beautiful. And wonderful to have room for two as well!
Agree with Honeysuckle, you are fortunate to have found a "real" gardener. It must be such a weight off your mind . Lets hope your husband continues to improve and that the new greenhouse revives his interest!

the new greenhouse sounds like it will be just what OH needs to get his mojo back.
