The new Greenhouse

Some time ago I mentioned that the Offspring had treated their Dad to an Alton greenhouse. Here it is installed at last.

My OH has been ill since February and has been unable to tend to our garden. Having a gardener hasn’t helped that much as so many hours a day don’t seem to be enough. The brambles and weeds are popping out everywhere. They obviously love this weather.

OH has only set up a few plants in the greenhouse just so that it looks inhabited!! Our lovely daughter bought him the special chair so that he is comfortable. It has adjustable height and seat and arms for comfort. Special grips on the feet so that it won’t slip.

The greenhouse was installed in day by a man who didn’t stop for a minute. He refused all offers of tea/coffee and cold drinks as he had his own supply of the latter. I have never seen anyone work so hard.

We hope that having a greenhouse will make up a little for not being able to tackle all the garden work in days to come.

It looks lovely! The man that put up ours was exactly the same. I was very pleased and impressed at how hard and fast he worked. I hope your hubby gets a lot of pleasure from his new greenhouse. :)

It must feel like you are surrounded by nature when you're inside the greenhouse. It's lovely, I would spend all my time in there I think.

That looks absolutely beautiful, we all know how good gardening is for our well-being so hopefully this will help your OH tremendously. Well done on having such a lovely family!

Lovely greenhouse, thoughtful offspring and a great 'perching stool' too! I love the trailing Pelargonium and wish your OH many happy hours pottering in the greenhouse.

And happy hours plant hunting !

Oh, thank you ALL. The greenhouse is supposed to be a distraction as OH gets "down" when he finds he can't do things. He has always been a workaholic and to suddenly not be able to do things has been a culture shock.

Younger Son was here tonight for well over an hour seeing to the watering of the back garden. Sadly some of the very large shrubs at the front are beginning to suffer. Our hose pipe doesn't extend to them and I can't carry watering cans!

I never thought I would miss rain so much!

Cant you mulch around your plants which will feed them too or place pea gravel around them to keep moister in for the plants . We havent seen rain here for weeks.

What a gorgeous greenhouse! I bet you will take a share in enjoying it too... Agree with Shirley, its a very kind and thoughtful present and we all seem to agree in wishing your OH many happy hours in it.

That's very nice Eirlys. I hope you and husband will have good use out of it.

I am de-cluttering as well as Eirlys did. Its something we can do while waiting for the rain to renew our interest in growing plants.
If anyone has lightweight camping kit in the cupboard that needs a new home, I know a cycling club where a leader wants to set up a camping group for youngsters. Send me PM for details.

Thrupennybit: All the big shrubs have mulch around them but the heatwave has gone on for a long time. Daughter and I watered the really thirsty ones this afternoon as it was cloudy here.

Steragram: We can recommend an Alton greenhouse. It is smaller than the ones we had but, hopefully, is manageable. I really fancied sitting inside with an comfy chair and a book!

Hywel: It's my husband's "toy". I get to water the capillary mats if I'm good!!

Diane: Four boxes filled with clutter ready to go. No camping gear, sadly. All ours went when we sold our caravan. Worthy cause.
