Making Life Easy

We are revamping the area around our house. The existing lawn and drive were getting past it and I wanted to create a veg plot nearer the house….
My French friends helped (did the job). Their 8 tonne ‘pel’ made short work of everything; 3 hours work (and a couple of ’pastis) did what would have taken me weeks (and a bad back) to accomplish.

For the garden…I’ll get some top soil and start from scratch

For the drive…I’ll have a delivery of heavy gravel

For the Veg plot…Sadly it’ll be fork and spade…

ohhh thats perfect for getting started, I wish i had a neighbour with one of them... Looking forward to seeing your progress, and good luck with it all. I love grand plans and you've not started small at all ...:)

Aren't neighbours with JCBs great! I'm sure that without the machine help we'd still be digging out a tiny garden bed - or would have given up ! Good luck with the ongoing work! :o)

Madaboutgar..I don't know about 'grand plans' but, sometimes, it's easier to 'wipe the slate clean' and start again. The lawn had been set on very rocky soil and patches dried out in drought and it ended up as more weed than grass.

Nariz... It was certainly a boon. The area for the veg plot was full of rocks; the 'digger' dug a couple of pits, buried the rocks and levelled the topsoil.
Each 'bite' was about 5 wheelbarrow fulls and, even if I could have done it, would have taken a morning to dig.

Having seen 'mechanisation' in action, I think I'll invest in a rotovator.

Remember that well, having a couple of pits dug, and the rubbish deposited into it...:))) and that was the Marie and his digger...
