In the garden. Chrysanths, Hillside Apricot.
On this spot stood my favourite tree, a Holford Pine. It was very old, with massive radiating branches which were sawn off in order to prolong its life. Unfortunately it was blown down the next year (2013) in a storm. This sculpture took a week to make, from the wood. The top cone is of the Holford Pine & the bottom cone from a Monterey Pine blown down at the same time. Both trees exist elsewhere in the garden.

The garden is bounded by the River Mole to the south, with Wisley golf course over the river.
Don’t know why he’s around in the garden! I’m making him the final image.
The only plant I bought was Geranium ‘Roxanne’ which I’m
told blooms all summer, now planted & G ibericum has been chucked out.

You will love your G. Roxanne - it’s certainly very long flowering, from June to October! It can spread to 2 metres or more too, and is hardy . . . So an excellent choice. Glad you had a good day, Feverfew.

I didn't know it was going to spread that much Sb. I might have to give it more space, before it gets settled in, thanks for telling me that.

Lovely blog Feverfew. Everything seems to behave itself there. Did you notice the lawns by the entrance path? I've never really got over them. Perhaps the dino was there for the children. The sculpture is amazing - must have taken ages to do and will be a nice reminder of the poor old trees.

Yes, I did notice the perfect lawns, Stera, not a weed & all like velvet, :-). I live 20 mins drive away, so like to make the most of my membership. Always something to see & important to get out & about in winter.

Oh it looks fabulous, as I said I have never been, loved the alpines and all those chrysanths, they look as though someone has gone around tweaking to make them all look so pristine.. Really enjoyed your blogs Feverfew so once again thankyou for sharing...

Interesting to visit such places and nice that they've made sculptures from the old trees :)
