Saw this on Amazon while I was looking for something else (as usually happens!) and bought it.

I tried to put it against plain background so that I could then black it out, but even this “plain” wasn’t plain enough for Paint Shop, sigh.

There’s nothing to indicate scale, but it’s about a foot tall. Think I’ll need to put it on a plinth, or slab, something that will let me know it’s there before I fall over it

Very nice and so cheap to feed, lol, might be a good idea to stand it amongst your plants Fran, you probably wouldn't be moving so fast if working amongst the bedding, I've tripped over many a time and it hurts us more than the pots and ornaments...

that's true, Lincs: I was sort of vaguely visioning a spread of flowers and this in the middle It could go nearly under a shrub for now. Advantage of its size is that it's easily portable - also a disadantage - having been brought up in an inner-city enironment, I hesitate to put anything portable in a front garden!

We are lucky where we live and very rarely hear of anything going missing but I still only have really heavy pots in the front, don't believe in asking for trouble........

I think perhaps there was less risk than I beleived, but you only hear bad news - lol you never hear that someone *hasn't* been mugged or that their house *wasn't* broken into! But I did have some probs in my prevous place, kids getting into the block ripped two cordless doorbells from my door - which is why I now have three "ring-units" for the third doorbell that I bought but didn't want to put up there in case it went missing, too.

Here, it's different. the bolt on my garden side gate doesn't line up with the eye, so one only has to turn the handle to get in. been like taht since September at least, when i came to iew the place - how much longer than that i've no way of knowing, of course. have thought about getting it fixed, but it's handy to have that access: i can ask delivery drivers to leave stuff round the side if i'm not in when they call.

learning to relax is going to take some time, but this is one East End habit htat I'll be happy to get rid of!

I could concrete ornaments in the front garden on to large heavy slabs for more security, which would make them a tad less portable.

Yes Fran, I would put it between the plants !

Yes its difficult to break the habits of a lifetime, you do sound happy though and thats what counts, I hope we get a really good summer so you can sit outside this year and enjoy your garden without getting the empty ciggie pkts and other rubbish chucked out of windows into your space, then you'll know you are really home.....

lol I still ca'nt believe how lucky I am,how much my engironment has turned around, and my life will as soon as I can get myself sorted!

from one-bedroom flat in a block on a main raod with sirens serveral times an hour and neighbours chucking rubbins hout oft theie window, neighbours oppostie who had all-night parties, and kids whose idea of fun was to vandalise my front door - to a semi-detached bunglaow, proepr gardens, no tower blocks so there's actually some sky to be seen ...

I'm planning on getting the tall fence all the way down both sdies of the garden - the back is already shielded. and then I can seriouslywork on my suntan!!

26 Mar, 2014

Thats the way to go, shorts and suntops, I can't wait, I have places in my garden where I cannot be overlooked at all so can still use bikini tops, just keep a shirt handy in case somebody knocks on the door, lol..........

:)) so happy for you Fran!

lol LIncs, I was thinking of something even more minimal than that! once I get the tall fences up, I'll be un-overlooked too (already am if I keep to the bit of grass close to the house, so long as next door keeps to their patio!) but then I'll be *totally* private! I have a cordless bell with three separate chime units, one of which will be out in the garden with me, so I'll have notice, and pick up a wrap on the way to the front door (unless they come through the side gate, that is!)

Thanks, Karen :-D

Fran I'm so pleased you have the lovely new home away from so many hassles ...

29 Mar, 2014

thanks, TT! I'll probably find new hassles, but I've got to learn to distuntuish between those and the ones I brought with me ...

It'll take me some time to properly unwind and relaaaaaaaaaaaaax, but when I do ...
