shopping booty

went to a shop in town to exchange an item that i’d got the wrong size; while i was there I didn’t do so badly on spending more money …

I wanted a pair of boots that felt as snug and comfy as my pull on bedroom slipper-boots (I have three pairs, but all areeither a bit uncomfortable, cold, or tricky to put on when you can’t bend as much as needed)

Also wanted some wellies, as this is not the right season for my leaky old trainers, and ddin’t want to ruin a new pair:

They had a few patterns, but only one in my size – thinking about it, I should have got a size bigger, to allow for warm socks, but there you go, easy to have afterthoughts! These are plastic rather than rubber, and the pattern goes all the way down.

While I was at it, completed my hat-trick (or boot-trick) with a pair of pull-on boots that could be worn with trousers:

bought a few more bits, some of which need to go back, so no doubt I’ll find other things to bring home instead …

lol Amy, they're pretty wedd-defined for what to wear when: wellies in garden, patent books with trousers, and the suede fur-lined ones on every other opportunity! already tried them on walk to local shops, veyr comfy

I'm glad the fur lined ones for walking are comfortable Fran, I hate walking with uncomfortable footwear ..

I don't like wearing socks, as they're sjust another layer to wrinkle and cause discomfort. All my other boots need socks as being less uncomfortable; can't get an insock into them, like wrestling a dead crocodile!

What fancy wellies Fran! How great to come back with just what you wanted, you must give me some lessons. I hate to wear wellies without thick socks, my feet get so very cold in winter. I've got several pairs of nice long ones that are just the ticket, but you're right, you do need a size bigger to make room for them. But the long thick ones I have don't wrinkle at all. Uncomfortable feet are awful, you simply can't forget about them can you? I did read once that tight shoes are the greatest blessing on earth because they make you forget all your other troubles...

lol Stera, not just what I went out for! I returned the shirt and got the right size, got these, and got some more clothes - one of each to check the sizes; if htey fitted, I'd go back for more. One of them needs to be exchanged, so ... looks like I'll be spending a bit more there.

I've got a load of ankle socks which are size 5-8, or something like that. I'm a 6, so the foot never fits properly, there's always a bit of heel or toe left over - usually at the heel, which gets wrinkled and creases.

i've found some old hiking socks, which double as bedsocks ( a single duvet is annoying because I can't wrap it around me to exclude all draughts, and a double is so big that it takes on a life of its own and slides over the edge, its own weight pulling it down. I'll have to try a queen size. But for now, the single lets in cold air round my feet, hence the socks. They might go into the wellies, i'll have to try them to see.

Maybe I could change the wellies, not been worn, but they had few in size 6 and i do'nt remember seeing any in size 7 - though they might have new stock in between last Monday and this Monday!

I can't seem to grasp the concept of only buying one thing, or one type of thing, at a time - if I find a shirt I like, I'll buy three or four in different colours. I've learned that if you don't get them when they're there, they won't be there when you go back.

You could go back and see Fran, know what you mean about the stores, m&s especially have a policy it seems that once its gone its gone, supposed to make us buy more often.....I would have thought if the regularly sold what we want to wear it would increase sales......grrr

you did so well Fran, those snuggly warmboots sound great x

I used to stroll at the local markets in the East End - see smething I liked, walk on to see if someone else had it cheaper, no one did, so I went back to the first stall and then found that they'd sold it, so now I tend to grab it as soon as I see it.

I need to go back anyway, to get more of the things that I only bought one of to check for size. Didn't really want to lug the wellies all the way in if I have to lug them all the way back again - mind you, even if they did swop them I'd have to lug them back home!

Don't you dare change them Fran. I've just nominated them to goypedia, when Terra spots them she'll be adding to our welllie blog, its years old and been there nearly as long as we've had the pleasure of goy....

Well done Fran, super boots there, I could do with some Wellies myself. I love it when I hear someone gets a bargain as I rarely manage it...unless I'm shopping with Bloomer, she can really ferret out a good buy.

lol thanks Lincs and Waddy and TT

I'd have tried for the same pattern, the others weren't that sexy - but I wore them in the garden today, so now I'm stuck with 'em.

I'd not worn wellies since the 'orrible rubber ones we wore as kids, so these are at least a bit smarter!
