I was out in the back garden trying to re-repair Cave #3 to be of even some slight use that evening when I happened to look behind me … and dashed for my camera. The whole western sky that I could see wass alive with colour

It was a beautiful sunset Fran, bit different to the weird colour of last night whilst it was snowing.......

Beautiful sky Fran, I suppose it was heralding the snow which came later.

Lovely sunset colours, Fran! :-)) I took a couple of photos of the sunset a week or so ago but they weren't nearly as bright as these! Around Christmas time we tend to get some nice sunsets & I have photos from other years saved on my computer.

That's beautiful Fran. Did you ever get sunsets like that in your olds place or was it too built up to see very far?

@ Loosestrife – lol some people will always look far away for miracles, but don’t always see what’s under their noses (or above their heads). A sky like that is indeed a gift from nature, and is to be grabbed and appreciated!
@ Lincs – I don’t often seem to get, or at least to see, many out-of-the-ordinary sunsets, such as I’ve seen in other people’s pics. Lol when it snowed here it was dark, and also raining, so I didn’t take much of a look at the sky.
@ Pam – thank, dear. Wish I had a better camera (or was a better photographer!). took other pics but they came out a bit blurred.
Fascinating colour scheme, all the same.
Lol my camera lives by my pc only safe place to put it where I can remember where it is! Dashed in from back, grabbed it, took it out of the case, and back out – could have gone out of the front door, but didn’t think of it.
And luckily the battery was charged – usually seems to happen that such photo-ops are missed because the camera will take one or two pics then close down,
No snow since; rain aplenty, though. It only needs to drop one degree in temp to become snow.
@ Snoop – probably just the harbinger of what’s to come! So glad I got my furry boots, they’ll come in very handy over the next couple of months, I shouldn’t wonder. And I’d better dig out my thermals, as well!
@ TT – thanks, dear; it was pure luck that I happened to look up and back; wish I’d done it earlier, then I might have captured a fuller sky. Still, not discontent with what I did see, and capture.
@ Waddy – I suppose it was a snow warning – first time I’ve had snow since last September, and in London could never see enough of the sky to get any sense of what it was trying to say!

Lovely photos, Fran, nothing like that here just a bitterly cold windy day and a very heavy frost. No snow yet and I don't think it is forecast for here.

lol didn't think it was forecast for here, either! but it didn't hang around, just came to visit beiefly, maybe as a warning

To quote Emerson:" Nature is the daily bread of our eyes."
To quote Rembrandt :" There is only one master, nature."
One of the things that make me optimistic about life is that there are people like you who will say that they " dashed for my camera " when they see a gift of nature such as you have shown us. Thank you!
