I love this, yes looks like crimson star. Had it once but lost it..takes some doing to lose an aquilegia! Not saying much for my green (?) fingers lol!

Amy, I do not have much experience with Aquilegia, but would like to ask - for how long does it bloom? I bought one in April, planted and it bloomed afterwards for about week or two and now, when all is blooming, it has just green leaves. Is it normal? It blooms just a short time of the season? Photos I see on this webpage make me doubt.

Thanks everyone , I have these in all different colours I haven't a clue as to their names ... Kat the one in the photo is still in full bloom they usually bloom for quite some time if not weeks , I will take note of how long this one is in flower also I normally cut them down when they have finished and then with luck I have a second lot later in the year ........

Stunning. Just stunning.

Im pretty sure the species have a shortish blooming period but named varieties (I have Yellow Queen, Nora Barlow, Ballerina and couple more) seem to bloom over much longer period..Im sure someone knows better than I..
