Good luck with the nest Amy.A pair of blue tits were prospecting in one of our boxes today. They do tend to check them out earlier than other birds.........

How exciting :-))))

I hope so Sandra .. I hope you will have a nesting pair as well Ray , this seems to be the favourite box in the garden they don't always nest in the other ones ....it is exciting Dawn I like to keep an eye on when they lay their eggs , they say that we will have good weather 6 weeks later to coincide with the eggs hatching so that there are plenty of gnats and insects to feed the young on ... :o)

Isnt it heartwarming to see, we had a pair of Blue Tits inspecting the box at the front yesterday its been up four years but never had anyone nesting in it yet, so fingers crossed!

Perhaps they will nest in it Carole I hope so for you ... does it face north-east , it mustn't face the hot sun .. :o)

Nice box, I used to have either wrens or bluetits using one of the boxes during the winter, and sometimes they nested in another in the summer. Perhaps they crowd in to keep warm.
3 Feb, 2010
Thanks Lindak , I have read that as many as 60 wrens will crowd into a box to keep warm in the winter .. can you image that ?
3 Feb, 2010
They'd be out in the cold if they were argumentative....LOL

Ame
you are nice to Birds, they love nesting boxes. I have a nesting box fixed up on a Cedrus deodara tree. A pair of Minas has taken its possession since last 4 years. The nesting home seems to be so good that the Minas breed 2-3 times in one year
