Behind the greenhouse

Janey

By Janey

Behind the greenhouse

Behind the greenhouse is a space about 3ft wide. We had a pile of old bricks so I made a path down the middle to the compost bin with tomatoes on the left and runner beans on the right.

Don't old bricks make wonderful paths Janey. I love the way they look.

The things there are doing well, can't believe how the Tommies have grown since Sunday...the paths a bit wobbly, should have sunk them in but never mind....:o)

Excellent use of space.

We also did that with some old Victorian house bricks. Trouble is, they were an 'indoor' type, not suitable for outside. They're very slippery when frosted (the frost can sometime split and crumble them) and they get coated with algae etc,
which also makes them slippery.

Apart from that, they're fine!

But they do have an 'old world' look about them.

Thanks Gg..:o)
These have been great Cpman......though I should have sunk them really, these were old outside bricks, though a bit chipped here and there, sometime I'll get round to laying them properly....would love a herringbone brick path...aah...:o)

What a lovely path - I love old brick paths - they have so much more character than new setts.

I have a collection at the bottom of my garden which I intend to use to edge my lawn - I have already started but it takes a long time.

What a good use of space though - gardens are too precious to waste - well done.

Thanks for your comment Mariek, I can imagine edging your lawn would take ages and a good amount of bricks. Are you setting them at an angle so you get a 'V' shaped top?

I love this picture Janey! really like old bricks as paths. I am gonna post a pic of my sicilian mint and camomile path that is growing nicely at the bottom of my garden, the mint has spread so well. What flowers are they in the pic? and are they planetd with vegetables? (new novice gardener, I could do with some advice and guidance lol)

Thats a while ago Jujai, mmmm a few more weeds now....Lol. looking forward to seeing your pic, havent come across Sicillian mint before. The orange flowers are Calendula or Marigolds Jujai, they help keep white fly and green flies away from any veggies you are growing as they flock to them first!
