This is a photo of Clematis tangutica 'Radar Love' flowering on a dwarf apple tree in front of the greenhouse on Gerry's allotment. I grew it from seeds sent to me by Sixpence, (a GoY member some years ago), it now covers the apple tree even though I cut it back to the ground in March 2015!

Yes, you are quite right! But I had no idea it could become such a vigorous climber! It's gone from ground level to almost covering the tree in just 6 months! If we hope to get any apples on the tree next year I will have to cut it down to the ground again next year!

Love these yellow Tangutica types - mine has spread along the back fence - through shrubs and a Zebra grass - just the fluffy seed heads left now. I shall cut it down to about six inches in the Spring.

I planted one seedling at the base of a Victoria Plum tree at the same time I planted this one at the base of the dwarf apple tree. Whereas the apple tree is almost swamped by this Clematis the plum tree has it still climbing up into the highest reaches of the branches! I haven't cut it back here. I tried to take photos when it was in flower but not having a telephoto lens the flowers only showed up as indistinct yellow dots against the deep blue sky & the leaves.
