Thanks Crazydi ... I just basically bought a few red and yellow leaved shrubs to give the bed some backbone and then dotted in perennials and rockery plants. Takes no looking after. :-)

oh Dotty, I wish was June again. These borders look after themselves really, which is always a bonus.

I appreciate this photo is over five years old but can anyone list the plants for me? Thanks

Dawn would obviously be the right person to do that, Montie, but I can see Crocosmia leaves, Euonymus fortunei, three Cotinus coggyria, probably hardy Geraniums (the blue) a Spiraea and a weeping Willow right at the far end. Obviously that's not everything.

Thanks, that's a good start

Hi Montie. Spritz has answered your question wonderfully. From the left, the first red leaved shrub is Berberis thunbergii atropurpurea, next one is Cotinus coggyria and the third one is Corylus maxima 'Purpurea. The dark green leaved small tree at the top is Corylus avellana 'Contorta'. A couple of Buxus behind the Spiraea.

Thanks Dawn. I hope I can create something as stunning as yours.

Awww, that's kind. This bed is on a slope which adds to the effect. Its needing a good prune now.

Beautiful garden. I was just wondering what depth this border is. I'm looking to create something similar

Hi Hannah. Thank you. The border is not on the flat, the plants are on quite a steep slope, the bed has another side to it but to answer your question the depth is about four feet but the shrubs are quite big so to get the effect on the flat you would need a much deeper border.
