New Additions To The Garden

New Additions To The Garden

This is my new Birdtable and Birdbath bought with Anniversary and Christmas garden tokens, I have had my eye on the birdtable for ages and it just fits into my garden, I . have sat watching for the birds to visit this afternoon and although a few have been eyeing it up from the distance of the tree only one little brave Bluetit has actually landed and take some nuts, I guess it takes awhile for the birds to get used to new additions.

Posh birds you have there Carole!

Four star Feeding station and Bird Bath..

I cannot place any feeding stations or feeders near front of garden as we have
Rats I am afraid the rats may then try to enter the House.

The reason we get Rats is our House backs on to the Fields, it is not so bad in the Summer, its the Winter we have to take care.

I wonder if you new additions now have snow on them? Several flurries here today and this evening we have had a enough to settle, so no gardening for me yet :(

10 Feb, 2010

Well Gee I set off determined to sow my seeds today even though we have had snow on and off all day, but most of my work was indoors so hooray 12 Trays sown and all my cuutings either repotted or soil topped up. So pleased.! Like you the snow settled but dont think it will be around for long , says me hoping! Just posting a picture of my new birdtable and birdbath in todays snow! ;0)

Lovely birdbath and table. The table is similar to mine. Is the roof slate? Well done on getting your seeds sown. I've just taken half a dozen cuttings from my perenial wallflower and they are sitting on my kitchen windowsill in the sunshine. At least we seem to be keeping the greenfly outbreak in the greenhouse at bay with spraying.

11 Feb, 2010

Thanks Lindak the roof is slate what colour is yours? I am afraid I lost my Perenial wallflowers in the bad weather, they looked so pitiful, its a shame as I do love them and they smell nice too, But I will get some more, mine were Purple and Gold!

I've not been here for a while (which I feel bad about) and the first thing I saw when I logged in this morning was your new birdbath and table. It's a lovely setting and a really nice way of using your vouchers. Hopefully now that time has moved on since the picture was taken you've had lots more visitors.

A few Irene but plaguied by Pigeons at the moment;0(

Yes my bird table has a grey slate roof. We have an outbreak of young starlings visiting the garden and they are fun to watch. They squabble and eat so much that they can hardly take off!!! We have a chaffinch that has a bad leg and hobbles around to get enough food to take back to his nest. They are all wet this morning as we have had rain for a couple of hours with thunder and lightning. Some of the lightning looked pink in colour and we wondered if it was the volcanic ash causing it to look like that. At least the gardens are getting a good watering and some nitrogen put back into the soil.

6 Jun, 2010

Rain hear all morning but no lightnening, the gardens certainly need it should see a a burst of new growth, I have noticed the Blue Tits and Great Tits are not using the bird table think they are still feeding young!

The birdbath is a very good idea - every garden should have one !

I get all sorts of birds on and in mine including a kingfisher yesterday and we are about 8 miles from a river/lake etc

Good luck with yours

Thanks Mariek, the birds make me smile they come down eat their fill of food then hop onto the birdbath for a quick drink and brush up!
Wow must have been exciting seeing a Kingfisher;0)

Looks great. We have just hung up a little house bird feeding table from a tree in our back garden. I have been wanting one for ages, but this is the first I have ever had! It took a couple of days for the birds to be brave enough to hop into it, but after that, they appear in hordes every day & it is so entertaining to sit in our sunroom to watch their antics. Then they go & have a drink. New birdbath arrived today, so they will now be able to splash about too. Wow ... a Kingfisher! Awesome. We had a pair of Tuis in our back garden yesterday, which was a big thrill, as the tui is one of our lovely native birds but not seen too often (I live in NZ).
